Am sorry abt that , it makes u think twice who to deal with now :shakes head:

This thread has been painful. From all ends. Truth is, that piece looks OK to run. For $170 that's a LOT of work. No it ain't perfect, but it arrived on time, and it's handcrafted.

There is no 'crack' in the intake. The joint was welded fully on the other side.

Looks: As a past tech, I've seen the prettiest parts run like crap, and ham and egg contraptions set records. It depends.

I feel your disappointment, but I'm not convinced S&R did you wrong.

ANMVQ: You don't need to agree. :)

Coop

ANMVQ 08-25-2012 05:10 PM

Hey Coop thanx man, For the info, I is fully welded on the but there is a gap between the two peices, I mean trust me I did not expect it to be "perfect" Because it is the first one. But I have had parts customed before," Air intake for my old EVO 8" Bill at DSG made it for me and I was the only one to ever run it, An it looked 100% better than this, The things that really bug me are the spaces on the inside where the MAF's would sit, the gap where the 2 arms meet and the huge mound of a weld, The interior of the intake should be smooth no? Imperfections will cause turbulence wont they? Plus on the outside the MAF housing are slanted? So the MAF would sit slanted on the pipe , Wont that affect the air readings? Things I want to understand. I know being the first and having this made "Special " for you or your car take time and can be a trial and error , But it just seems this went off from the start. Like I said before I'm sure Bobby is great, But some otheres have to help him out.

Isamu 08-25-2012 06:36 PM

Can you post a picture of your Maf housing or the inside of your charge pipe? Bet it looks nothing like that. Because he has a stillen kit he is supposed to accept sub par standards?

ANMVQ, just wait a few more weeks. I guarantee you will be happy with the solution coming if everything works out.

I did call 4 times yesterday starting a 10am no on anwsered the phone, You can not leave them VM cause the thing is full so you have to keep calling back. There is also no way I'm putting that on my car. I'm using the one I bought from Stillen that I was going to return, Which I can not know because they kept my origonal intake, Wht I said I', out $$ anyway. Because I'm not going to be able to return a used intake.

I'm also with Jmac on this, What because I have the Stillen kit(Supposed to sux) I have to use something I feel is not good..

Pics of the MAF housing? From what S&R's pipe? I have it in the pics above? The housings are not stait and do not line up with the cut out in the intake pipe leaving a gap,

Was directed more at Isamu. He has their single turbo kit, which we have seen pictures and the kit looks great. My point was if his Maf housing looked like that he probably would not have accepted it on his kit.

This is all part of doing a custom job put the intake on and test it on the dyno.Leave the front bumper off and test between the two intakes that one and the Stillen one.

I am with Coop on this one as well on this one.

I wasted more thant the $170 that you just spent on that one intake on Cog pulleys and belt's trying to figure out the correct combo. Now you have the correct Cog combo and belt combo through trial and error by me. Basically what I am trying to say is things might not work out the first time the way you want them to.

I really hope thing's work out for you but if you didnt think you was going to have a few bumps in the road , then you might want to stop right now and leave the kit as is.

Huh? You guys must be self conscious about the Stillen kit, because no one said anything about brands. These comments are completely irrelevant to the opinions posted.

Judge: Strike them from the record! LOL!

Thanks,

Coop

If I had an option to do this maybe but I honesly dont trust the way it looks, Just comes down to me be comfortable with bolting on the car, And if I was to leave the bumper off and swap things around myself at the dyno I would. But I wasnt planning on do a VS testing from Stillen and S&R.

I was almost planning on hitting bumps in the road, Just not with workmanship, Parts being delayed, Not in stock, Waiting for things to get fixed, YES of course.. But I have been in this for over what weeks without the car, So I have spent the 6+ weeks of the summer in a loaner car. Did not think it was going to be smooth, But at the sametime not this screwy.

Believe I understand frustration things happen ,you never know what kind of bumps in the road you might hit in a build. I know what it feel's like Im still not at 100% with mine build yet.

I paid nothing for this,(Becsue of the first mix up). This was something I was thinking about last night also. I wonder "IF" I have paid the $194( Started at $394) I was orginally told I had to pay. Guys would still say it looks good and run it. Just food for thought, I'm still look at that piece as it cost me the $194??? IDK. :icon14:

Picking up the car Wens I hope? It should be buttoned up today or tomorrow and is getting a full detail, Was dusty as heck from sitting, LOL . Then I have to see if or when I can get out and pick it up..

Thanx man, the welds an the gap are parts of my concerns. The mafs would be crooked? And the gap between the intake pipe and the bottom of the MAF housings?

im guessing the guy "eye balled" the locations of the mafs... i wont lie its crooked :o, as for the gaps... on the two pipes meeting each other and also where it meets the single pipe... dont worry about the gaps... :D honestly every fab guy or welder including myself... have all welded something together even when there was a small gap... its harmless bro... even if your boosted... it would only matter if there was like a o say 1/4 gap and he just filled it with weld... thats... a different story....

when you say bottom of the maf housings they welded those crooked also?

SRperformance 08-27-2012 08:19 AM

ANMVQ I can see your not happy with that one. I will have my fab guy build you another one. Give me a week to make you another one. On a side note there is nothing wrong with the MAF locations considering they are in different locations on our turbo kits and every cold air intake. I know this because I have data log many turbo kits and every cold air known to man.

Hey Bobby, Thank you again, I wasnt worried about the MAT locations and much as the angle they will sit in the pipe, Can you call me when you have time to talk, When I call you your always tied up, LOL , I just want to talk to you about some things, Thank you ,.

SRperformance 08-27-2012 08:25 AM

By the way we are closed on saturdays

The bottom of the MAF housings you can see do line up with the cut outs in the intake pipe, SO the bottom of the MAF housing overlaps the cut outs?

I'm just worried about the gaps and the humps becasue I do not want them to create turbulence? Just a smooth air flow,

ah i get what your trying to say now... makes sense... pretty much pockets all over the place making the air flow fly all over the place right? that part i dont have an answer... but im pretty sure the new piece they are gonna make for you will be more refined  im friends with isamu and the pics he showed look like quality craftsmanship
