Just out of curiosity does anyone have a completely built longblock?

COSMO 12-12-2013 03:38 PM

I think esfourteen has one that could be built...

elperuano 12-12-2013 04:06 PM

That highlighted area would be a crack. Every GTM manifold I've seen that has a few thousand miles on it cracks in this same spot.

The shops fabricator is going to repair this and then make a brace to help support the weight of the turbo from the block. I hope the new GTM manifolds everyone is waiting on no longer have this issue!

Did you fix this on the manifold and do you have any photos? What did they do? Yes, I have the same instance. It never affected performance or even made any noise whatsoever.

BTW: I had the off-the-shelf Wiseco 9:0/1 pistons. ANY discussion about lag or being soft at low and mid throttle from my standpoint is irrelevant. My tuner (Mike Botti) did his magic, and if anything it had more grunt than stock. Incredible. It's STILL a big honkin 3.7L V6. Don't overthink this area. Firsthand experience.

Thanks for that post. Let me know, please.

Yeah I never heard or noticed anything regarding this crack, my fear obviously is that it will get worse. The shops fabricator is doing the repair soon so I'll post photos when he's done. I know he has to heat the manifold to repair it properly but that's all I know at the moment.

sometimes I get the feeling you don't understand how the internet works. you remind me of those parents on Facebook who comment on random pictures they see in their timeline and assume they are talking to their children for some reason.

COSMO 12-14-2013 10:06 AM

Usually an oil analysis finds coolant in your oil, or the coolant has oil in it.

Is this the motor you've claimed to have "had" for years now? And if you're waiting on GTM, January is a bit optimistic.....:rofl2:

it was pretty obvious from the rough idle and white smoke, you can tell you have issues before full failure like this if you find you're pushing coolant out of the overflow/expansion under higher boost. also you may find carbon build up in the overflow tank. looks loke black residue

G37sHKS 12-14-2013 11:52 AM

Okay. I will watch my engine more often now then, thanks for info.

Glad your engine is healthy.
