Starting Steps
Ok so some of you know about my SC taking a dump, Stillen is going to warrenty it, But I'm still thinking about making some changes. I "MAY" or "MAY not" Send it to 928 Motorsports for the Impeller upgrade but either way I see in the future me adding something for more HP. We all have heard the rummors about the heat soak issue the Stillen kit has in the summer, So I went ahead and grabbed a upgraded heat exchanger from Frozenboost.com. Lots of american guys run these, SVT mustangs, Lightings and a few SC Camaros, The price was really good , Under $170 shipped and pretty big at 26x7x3.5.

That looks awesome. I know that with my previous car, a lot of guys ran Air to Air, or Air to Water setups w/ ice boxes even for the track and they worked excellently. Def a great idea to keep that puppy cool!

It's interesting you say this, we were thinking of ways to get cooler temps on a local stillen setup.
My suggestions if your going for the bigger exchanger run a larger coolant tank with ice box in the trunk. Should help out tons. Also run a heathy amount of water wetter in the coolant, i don't usually like additives but running it on my old sc'd car it worked really well. |
Thanx guys, Looking into also changing the coolant tank to a bigger one , Just looking for room.

What is the benifit of a larger coolant tank, Just that more coolant to flow would keep it cooler, I know it sounds dumb, But more to flow through the exchanged is a better way to keep things cool, Just like running a larger radiator? I will have to look and see where I could fit this, I found a lot on Ebay for like 150, Morroso and ETD motors. |

I don't think you would need a huge box, something that could sit in the styrofoam area under your trunks carpet should be good. You will have lots of coolant in the lines from the engine bay to the trunk as well.

No thats exactly what I thought, an thanx for the info :) But I will be trying to stay under the hood, I'm looking at areas where I could fit something, with the stock intake manifold gone I have some room on the drivers side of the car to work with, plus with my new vented hood the is a lot of air moving around in there so staying in that area will not be that bad,. |
Looking into some other things also, An can any one confirm the Stillen Kits injectors are only 600CC's? Why would they not use 650C. If there are 600's and upgrade the impeller I will need injectors. Along with new MAF's from UPREV.

OK so the heat exchanger will be at the dealer tomorrow, An I just picke upi the UPREV MAF's will need to retune the car for the MAF's? Not really sure becasue they will just read more air correct? No really adding a mod am I?

The resolution is different from OEM so you will need to retune for the new mafs

The mafs themselves won't give you any more power, but they will allow the tuner to fine tune it more, plus you won't be able to max out the mafs so if there's more power to be had in your setup they will let it out. The higher resolution scales it better, imagine instead of 50 squares you now have 150, but covering the same rpm band. Makes for a lot smoother tune

Hey Perfect man, Thanx for the explaination, I new I may need these are the stock MAF's are supposed to run out at 400WHP( Over that), But if I do the pulley change I will definitly need them,

Would this be a good idea? Or can the Stillen stocker handle the extra 2 PSI?

So the run down is below hope to get close to 480-500 WHP.
