I don't think anyone has popped an HR/VHR motor yet with this kit so no one knows how much they can take. Perhaps you are thinking of the threshold for the DE engine? The newer HR/VHR internals are significantly stronger than the previous DE internals. In addtition, the torque curves are also significantly different between the two ... less torque out of the HR/VHR also helps engine/drivetrain life.

Even though the VHR was tuned to over 600+ WHp, it will still be recommended to keep the boost down for increased reliability.

Keep in mind the biggest factor in engine life is HOW the car is driven. A motor can be tuned to 1000 WHp and last quite a long time if the driver is not boosting from light to light.

IIRC, Sharif@Forged already dissected the motor from a G37 and compared various components to the HR and DE. Such components were strengthened to handle the higher revs.

I believe that's the advanced warning sensor to prevent you from following too close.

terrycs 06-14-2009 04:04 PM

It is the sensor for the Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC).

ok!!!, thanks man

nogoodname 06-14-2009 05:39 PM

yup, it used to be in the center of the center grille, but the rad and pipes made it move to the left grille...it had to be recalibrated also.

ICC just applies the brake when cruising

CBRich 06-15-2009 05:09 PM

For the kind of power numbers we're looking the price doesn't seem too crazy. I mean this is a full kit.
