I believe the hottest day I've ran mine was in the mid 80's...my oil temp never went above 220 and that was driving the hell out of it for about an hour and a half. Of course it wasn't a constant boost fest but it was a good amount.

This was not on a track but on the highway!!!

^ do you get quite a bit of lag with the turbo being that far away?

tower74 01-26-2012 05:21 PM

No...don't believe everything you read. If look at the pics you will the exhaust runs into the Turbo, so everytime you hitting the gas it's spooling the turbo.

Any increased risk of hydrolocking with the filter being below the body of the car?

tower74 01-26-2012 05:44 PM

No. The air filter has a water sock on it. I've taken through car washes and drove it in the rain. Just every once in while it needs to be cleaned.

Oh wow that's very surprising. I definitely getting one installed as soon as my warranty is up then, better get started on saving.

Just don't make the mistake I made and buy it at the installers shop (buy it online). Taxes killed me...about 800-900$ in taxes. Otherwise they are a very good, inexpensive turbo. I paid about $8000 for the whole kit....that's with a boost controller, meth injection( they threw that in for buying the boost controller), ball bearing upgrade & ceramic coated.

@ STS/ Vernon or Marc....Could you please send me the info on the Uprev tune that comes with these kits. I have emailed you but still waiting on a response. I'm going to be taking my car to have it tuned at another shop and he needs the info...trying to fix my hot start issues. Thanks.

nah, just by looking at the pipings and seeing how far the charged air has to travel to the engine i would assume there would be major lag till it actually reaches the engine.

congrats on the kit though!

Thanks...had it since Sept. love it.:tiphat:
It's not going to beat a twin off the line because it is a single but trust me I thought the same thing until the first time i hit the gas.

lag from piping distance is negated by the cooler, denser air charge created from the remote turbo location. lag is virtually undetectable. plus our engines run such high compression from the factory, it makes the typical "turbo lag" hard to detect anyways

At what RPM does boost start and what RPM does it hit max boost?
