^^^ hmm. good to know.

My car has shift flare every now and then, on 3 to 4 and sometimes 4-5 shifts.. Feels like its slipping but I have never had a code, Its been doing it off and on for about a month,

W.O.W. 370Z 02-16-2012 08:45 PM

Update: Car won't shift out of 3rd and 4th.

Problem disappears after car sits for awhile. Taking to dealer tomorrow. :(

Not that's something I don't want to hear:shakes head:. My car (7AT) does the same thing when everything is cold. I will get an uprev from 3rd to 4th. It will still shift from 3rd to 4th, though. It only does until everything gets warm. After that I have zero issues.
I just got a new tune today for the tranny:stirthepot: and I can already tell the diffrence when it shifts. Now that might be another story when I drive it in the morning.
Do you get a clunking noise when you let the car down shift into 2nd? Mine doesn't do it all the time but it's the opposite. It only does it when the car is warm.

When you use the term 'uprev', although it's specific to shifting, it's misleading to the tuning company. In another thread I had NO idea what you meant. Now I see you are talking abut a slight RPM increase?

Got it. I like the term RPM flare.

Well problem appears to fixed with the "rpm flare":tiphat:. To be honest it was UpRev/STS who helped fix the issue.

Jason(Jnaut) who installed the TT and Jack from HP Logic said there was no way to do anything to help with the shifts on a 7AT through Uprev. I knew they were incorrect.

They refused to listen to me. They were very wrong.

On top of that HP Logic charged me $380 for a 20 minute retune.

Car is at Nissan now. :shakes head:

It is just increased transmission line pressure.. not really a "tune" it is very straight forward but effective.. Im assuming when they hear tune they think changing shift points and all that stuff

Wow they charged you to fix their problem? That's not standing behind your product or the guys doing the tune.
Damn that sucks. I would call Uprev and ask them. I always hate it when someone says there is no way to fix something. It just tells me that they have thrown their hands up and said I QUIT! No thanks...there is always a fix for a problem. Good luck and hope it doesn't cost a small fortune for you.

Well as a certified Uprev tuner I would think they would know what I meant or at the very least ask for clarification.

Lets see what happens...

I am currently in process of looking for a new tuner. I went to closest option and got burned. I know I am not the only one on the forum who got burned by them.

It is what it is.

Same thing here with the tuner I went to have my system installed. Guess I should of looked at his shop a little closer and seen that the only thing in his shop was mustangs and other domestics.

I don't know the specifics, but from what I've learned there is not a simple 'line pressure' increase through the Uprev software. (5AT experience).

You have a set of complicated numerical tables under the Torque Management window and they have to be tailored to the shift points and HP.

My own trans is awaiting a new TM set of numbers. Pat (Level Ten) just explained to me this morning that line pressure alone will not do what we need.

Someone with more experience than me can correct me.

+100 for wha Coop said, My tuner( kaizen) Just tuner my car last Saturday and had to change all the TQ managment tables with UPREV.. What did the dealer say, Being FI I'm sure they are not warrentying the car, Or are they??

Coop the Subi guy at Kaizen says Hello, :) We where talking about your car when my car was on the dyno.

tower74 02-17-2012 07:03 PM

Nissan told me the same thing. They will not touch a thing on my car because I FI my Z. They will however still change the oil but as far as issues. It's my problem now.
