Not my boy. Mine is in boot camp. I have his best friend with me who also happens to be our cousin. I just filled up and my gas milage for mostly highway miles with a stop and go trip down the strip had an average of 20.56 mpg. Averaging 80-95 mph on the highway in some pretty hot OAT's of 110-118. Will report back in an hour or so. That was with some very spirited driving wile we were still close to GTM so that affected gass mileage.

98intrigue 07-27-2011 09:25 PM

Have a safe trip home! Your description of your enjoyment so far made me smile and hopeful for mine to finally run right.

Stop for the second time to gas up. Averaged 80 to 90 mph a lot of terrain and still only managed 20.23 mpg for the second leg. Sooooo we will check it again to see what happens. Every thing is running great so far. Just over 3 hours from grand junction where we will get a hotel for the night.

Too busy driving to post em. I wanna get it home. Just refueled here in Rifle CO. A little better at 21.3 mpg. Lunch in Denver.

ClemsonWill 07-28-2011 12:28 PM

I think he could do much better if he drives more conservatively, Maybe 25 + to the gallon.

Sam

Armonster 07-28-2011 01:46 PM

Very nice! 2 questions:

(1) How are your temps? Could you tell us about what kind of temps you see and what the ambient temp and your driving style was like at that time?

(2) Do you notice any additional vibration in the upper rpm range? The issue of vibration with stiffer motor mounts was brought up in another thread, but I wanted to hear an independent opinion.

SeeyaBud86 07-28-2011 02:03 PM

Sam,
Will an aftermarket radiator fit with this kit? Since I'm in Florida, the extra cooling would be ideal.

Conservatively... Yea... Give him 6 or 8 months for that "conservatively" to kick in. I know I am still not at "conservatively" yet.

Maybe he could just give us a tank of gas at 70mph...

Just an FYI, while the car is in Colorado it may run a bit hotter than normal. I don't know if its the lower density air or the lack of humidity but engines run a bit warmer than average here.

sig11 07-28-2011 02:39 PM

I really love the sound. Is the whine as noticeable in real life as it is in the video? and... that BOV WOW. :)

Have pretty much stayed out of it for the trip. I jus drove a constant 70-80. However, OAT's have been high, density altitude has been high and I'm pulling mountains. So we are in Denver now, so we will check the milage on flat ground. I have been running a very high oil temp at times. In the 240-255 range. I want to see what happens when I'm not climbing hills.

See post above but the temps have been running on average 100 F outside. No extra vibration while driving really. Just pure enjoyment to drive!

Sam has one he is working on that I got to see first hand. It is a work of art. I will be going this route next year.

Agreed

All in all, sam and the crew at GTM are top notch in my book. Even though I was a pain in SAMs azz at times, he remained professional at all times and that professionalism carries over into their work. I am very impressed with this kit and the quality that went into it. Sam and GTM will continue to have my business as far as I'm concerned.

dixon cider 07-28-2011 05:37 PM

Last mountain fuel stop I got 22.40 mpg. Next fuel stop with be flat Land tips on the last leg were upper 90's averaging 55/80 mph

jezzz, you're making way better fuel mileage than me, and I'm making way less power than you lol. Last long trip I took i made 298 miles on The whole tank driving normally.

dixon cider 07-28-2011 07:20 PM

The odd thing is my fuel computer is WAY off. Every time I fill up, my range to empty is around 606-610 to empty. It was not like that prior to the SC. Don't really know why. But I know I will not see that out of a tank even if I pushed the car for a hundred miles first. Trying to race hail storms here in Kansas. Don't really want to get caught up in that. 1187 miles so far.

Ouch. I have been refueling around 260-280 miles and still have over a quarter of a tank.

KaienZ34 07-28-2011 07:24 PM

The fuel thing has something to do with it reading the pulse from the injectors. Now that you have changed them to something bigger the readings will be off.

dixon cider 07-28-2011 07:29 PM

Well that's just downright unacceptable!!!! Sam, I am returning the kit.

Ummmmmmm........ Y'all know I'm joking. You can take my Supercharger when they pry my cold dead fingers of off it.

yep, i'm getting ready to kill myself pretty soon! seems like everybody with this kit is averaging over 300 miles on a full tank of fuel. i've only seen that once when i first picked up my car from GTM. oh well.

dixon cider 07-28-2011 07:47 PM

Well, I did JUST pick mine up. I will keep an eye on it.

Haha, my car averages 30+mpg sometimes according to my "fuel computer"...then reality sets in when I'm on empty at 250 miles.

Straight highway I get about 25 in my Z32TT... if I stay out of the boost.

Someday, I hope to have you build my roadster. :tiphat:

Dixon- Congrats!!! You're a boostaholic now for sure. :driving:

When I get hame and not have to worry about the drive home. I'd like to know what happened if you wouldn't mind telling about it.
