I would take bets on which part of your car would fail first on a trackday....although I don't think we would really find out since the car would go into limp mode before you could blow anything up.

I'm kidding, it would totally last, chill out! 11:1 Twin turbo car with an automatic transmission is BULLETPROOF. Everybody knows that.

My last drag car was doing ~160 at the end of a SQM. Seemed to not be that much rougher than when it had been trapping only 145 or so.

We aren't talkin bout your last drag car, we are talking about a boosted 370z with a stock block please keep the car at hand on discussion thanx.

You are making the claim that a high speed pull is somehow significantly rougher on the engine. I'm telling you that with several rebuild of my F20 (F25?), several hundred drag passes trapping 145 treated it about the same as trapping 160, as well as doing some standing miles.

Red__Zed 05-29-2011 12:15 PM

Pretty sure that is relevant, unless you think the VQ is different in some way...

Nismo370 05-29-2011 12:25 PM

You cannot compare to different motors, and I'm going to leave it at that.

So getting damaged by high speed pulls is a unique characteristic to the VQ?

:icon18::icon18::icon18: what's this story of your life with the 7AT all over the place? Everyone is now well aware as to how great the 7AT transmission handles on the Z whether FI or not, would you like a cookie or some?

You got a cool car that can handle a lot, beat the crap out of your car and have fun with it. Take it easy on the capital letters orgies dude, we got your point.

I've been running around my condo holding my supercharger making boost noises, I estimate I'm making somewhere around 600rwhp and my dog has seen me do numerous hard launches from the living room to my office. So far I'm a bit tired but theres no signs of compression loss and my leak down is consistent at ~8% across the board. I've sent out a urine sample to blackstone to examine for any metal shavings/signs of bearing failure. In conclusion everyone needs to chill out.
