can anyone explain this?

for those who are interested in FI or have done FI, I have a question for you.

1. Did you know that you would go for the FI eventually when you determined to get a Z?
2. What are the advantages getting 370z TT/SC instead of Evo/Sti's cheap HP upgrade?

I bought my Z 3 months ago, and I have just realized that it costs way more money to go FI route for n/a car. I was not a car guy :(
Many of my friends suggest me to trade in my car for EvoX and do some turbo upgrade if I have money to go for TT/SC for my Z because even if I lose my money on trade-in, EvoX will be much faster.
What do you think about it?

BTW, my goal is to have 400+.

1: No actully I never had the intention to go FI untill i joined this forum(you bastards) I actully did about 6 months of research before I bought my Z. I did research on all cars that I could afford, from sti, mustang, evo. Every comparison i did the 370z had more pros then all them. I have always wanted a Turbo car but i couldn't have been ignorant to actual facts in front of me and all the vehical reviews.

2:Alot of this has to be reviews read and all. To sum it up. 370z looks better and interior is nicer the evo, and STI. Also bang for buck 370>all. TT wise or S/C you get to keep all that and have the top performance you want. From my understanding and reading if you upgrade the turbo's on the evo and the STI you are very limited since the engine saposably can't handle that. We have Z running around on this board pushing over 500 whp and they have been doing it for a little while now. We are starting to learn on this forum that the engines in these cars are built very well and are handling abuse like a champ. In all reality this has to be your decision in what you want. If i was to do it all over again i would do it in a heart beat. If i didnt have the money to do it and I had to buy a car for just the fact of a turbo then i wouldn't have purchased it. TT on my car though always brings a smile to my face and when it comes to getting next to other people, I love how they weren't expecting to hear my blow off valve go off. I hope this helps but once again this is mainly a decision on what you want to do.

Since you already have the Z by the time you lose money on the trade and upgrade the Evo X or STI you could have gotten the Stillen SC

Or the GTM

sojirovskensi 12-13-2010 10:22 PM

So, $10k on Z (assuming I would get GTM SC) will be a better buy than trade-in + EvoX's turbo upgrade?

toner123 12-13-2010 10:27 PM

yes because you will be in your goal. also you will have a nicer looking car imo. Like I said those cars have engine problems once you upgrade the turbo because the internals can't handle. This info came from alot of reading and a buddy that owns A STI and EVO, who is now considering in selling and getting a z to TT

"Better" is an opinion. I think it would be cheaper, but you got to do the cost comparison

You don't need $10k to get a GTM SC.
$6k SC, $1.5k install... Still plenty left for other add ons...

I had a 450 whp STi with stock internals for years and both the 4g63 and 4b11 Evo engines can handle HUGE power. Afraid you are misinformed re Evo engines.

Would I not need an oil cooler and clutch upgrade?

Yes and at some point.
This car will 100% need a solid oil cooler with any form of forced induction. The clutch will need to be replaced, but not required when you first add a SC or TT. If you go TT I would advise to do it then as the engine is already out of the car.

True so add another $2k... Ok you'll be down $10k if you include everything. :)
I was just talking about the SC, supporting mods would have to go on both cars.

:iagree::iagree::iagree:

They are going to charge the same regardless if engine is out or not. There are a few of us running around with stock clutch for a little while now with no issues. So don't let that be a deal breaker.

I would pick a Z over any car. I have had alot of dealing with nissan built cars and the motors can take alot. If money is a problem then maybe look into a 300zx. I have a 300zx and a 370z. Drag racing wise the 370z can not compair witht the 300zx. But I have only had my 370z for a few months. I have alot of time in my 300zx. Slowly I'm warming up to the 370z. I'm planning a Stage 4 GTM build for my 370z in July. So maybe then it can hang with my 300zx. But will see..... It all comes down to which car do you like better. Cause you dont want to put the time and money in modding a car and then not like it. I have loved Z's scents I was a kid, I know not along time I'm only 22. But still I will keep both my Z's as long as I'm alive they are great cars. But thats just what I prefer.....
