Look what have you've done SHUMBY!

that homo is stuck in Korea btw!

Phimosis 12-12-2010 07:14 PM

Nice setup. Getting to the point of scary though, isn't it? 11 psi on stock internals with an engine that's 11:1 compression to begin with seems like it's going to have longevity issues.

I've got 3 real questions though: 1) is that tuned for 93 octane or something even higher? Seems like you would need higher octane to prevent detonation under 11 pounds of boost while maintaining enough advance to get that kind of power. 2) the 509 whp graph is smooth where the 548 whp is rough. Is that a tune with more advance and the knock sensors are pulling some of the advance? if so, do you give the customer that tune and say, "no problem, it's safe", or do you give them the more conservative 509 whp tune? and 3) can you show us dyno's that start down at 2,500 rpm so we can see how streetable this car would be? 4k+ tells us what it will do at the track, but it would be miserable as a daily driver if the boost doesn't come on early.

Google Static VS Dynamic Compression, than factor in what the VVEL cam set up is capable of doing, and you may have a better understanding of why that isn't as scary as it would be in a something like a 350 Chevy engine or something similar that is a more basic engine.

InTheZone 12-23-2010 09:46 AM

looks good, is the first graph the dyno of the setup after it was tuned and the 2nd graph before it was tuned? 2nd looks rough.

When I point this out to the "haters" their comeback is always "power is power" "HP is HP" "TQ is TQ" but I disagree. The TQ and HP curve is slightly different from a SC to a TT. Could this be the difference.....I dont know and neither does anyone else. My car has been TT'd for about 1 year and roughly 2000 miles and has had no tranny issues like the SC guys. Could it happen down the road.....maybe......maybe not. If it does, I wont shy away from letting everyone on here know I am having problems. I dont like Nismo's or 6MTs or body kits on the 370 but you dont see me bashing others that do like them. Until we "actually know" what caused shumby and others 7AT failures, we cant label the 7AT as at fault or bad or cant handle it.

Bring your tranny touched by god to the track and lets see how it does.

Damm this build is incredible; epic results!

Kastley85891 12-23-2010 04:52 PM

My trouble would be pushing it farther to be honest - that has cost me a motor in the past ;-)

I am sure the OP and GTM have a dam good handle on it... bet it is an awesome ride..

Devildog 01-06-2011 07:53 PM

Just to give a straight simple answer, its a 100 % stock engine.

Sam

This car is amazing! I need External waste gates! Which brings up a good point. Will any company come out with some new cams for the z? GTM?

Vinny 01-07-2011 12:07 PM

Was just looking at the stage 2 TT G37 thread and noticed that George (I think it's George) from GTM said that he did not recommend going over 500whp on stock internals. Has something changed since then? Was that just to be on the safe side?

blackbird 01-18-2011 04:52 PM

I have a 2009 370 GTM stage 2 TT (Z1 John did the great work). Doing 508whp at 8PSI. Have stock clutch and will go with Bigger clutch and 10PSI in the spring right after I retire. I live in New Hampshire and have no problems with internals or anything else. Anytime I punch it, I get sideways. saves internals. The car also drifts really great in the snow on exit or on-ramps with Blizzaks. May have to do with 18in wheels. May need to get 19in to put the hp to the road. Does make me smile, a lot.

Nismo221 01-23-2011 04:26 PM

pquaid 01-28-2011 10:23 AM

very impressive #s!! I have a couple questions.
1. What size injectors?
2. did you upgrade MAF sensors?
3. did you use Race Gas?

I think my car can get there easy but my tuner says I would need to upgrade MAF sensors because they are about maxed out and my 550cc injectors are too.

I can answer this for sam since I have the kit
1 injectors are 600cc
2.no, Why would you be told they are maxed out. Reason I ask is because didn't know this is possible.
3. No this is not race fuel. All sams post are on pump gas. If he used a blend he says it in the initial post.

This is a great kit. Only thing I wish i did was go with the down pipes with external waste gates to get higher tq. But none the less I am still in love with me car.
Frank

I enjoy doing that to people.
Everyone around who knows the truth just starts to laugh or smile really big. Then they look at the bumper and see something extra.

what do you have your boost set at on low boost just driving around and how often do you turn it to high? I have same boost controller set at 6.8 but it will spike in the 8s when i get on it.

I dont think you want to have this much boost spike. Might ask Sam about this one.

The EVC VI? Try lowering the offset for the given setting.

I love the sleeper look. Great job GTM..

548whp on a stock engine is quite impressive. Have we found the limit of the stock bottom end yet?
