WHEWWWW, OK UPDATE! She's alive!!!!
Sorry folks! No major issues just tired as all hell. 18 hours straight (slow working and making sure everything is torqued correctly, etc.) and 2 hours sleep! The little issues... (1) I stripped the thread off one of the adapter plates which caused a huge delay and run around time trying to get the right stuff to re-thread. –Resolved (2) I relocated the MAFs a bit more down the pipe so that when I tapped in for the water/meth it wouldn’t spray to close to it. -Resolved (I’m no pro so the welds aren’t the prettiest, LOL) (3) Overall there are some things that are different in the instructions since it was for the G37. Power steering, mounting points for FMIC/Oil cooler, but most of it was common sense. I am no mechanic so for me to have figured it out, others should be able to as well. However, a revised 370Z specific manual would be great! (4) Two incorrect fittings...This was the only real let down. More so because of it affecting the launch window than anything else. The two AN fitting that attach to the Setrab oil cooler (for the SC) were -8AN rather than -6AN. To band-aid #4 - I simply bypassed the oil cooler for the sake of making sure she would turn over. I would like to point out that while it is frustrating, I can see how something like that could have been mistaken when putting the parts together and labeling them all. Not a big deal...but being 5 min away from firing her up, it was like "OMG WTF, NOOOO!!!!!!!!!” So its about 6pm last night and we're dead tired after a hell of an exciting weekend. Fluids topped off, car still on jack stands, and SC rotrex-specific oil primed and ready to go...I fire up the laptop, and upload the supercharger map. Car is in the ON position and everything sounded and checked out OK. No codes, nothing...just nervousness. 3,2,1...a quick stuttery start and it instantly fires up and smooths out! Left the car idleing for about 5-10 minutes and it was just perfect! It was then that I let out the biggest sigh of relief! AHHHHHHH Anyway - I have more to say but I'll make a quick video and pictures of it all. I just needed to sleep badly. stay tuned... |
Good for you Danny. Cant wait to see the pics and vids.

Congrats on it turning on I guess.
Relocating the MAF sensors might affect readings slightly and might throw your tune off. I'd keep an eye on the AFR readings...at least at first while you do the initial testing. |
Hey, after doing all this myself and being paranoid of every bolt being torqued correctly, I'm damn happy it turned on, and extremely happy that its so buttery smooth. The whine coming from those intakes is sex to my ears.
Sure, I'm not driving it at this moment because of those two fittings but I've waited this long...tomorrow I'll break her in nicely. We'll see about the MAFs, I kept them on the straight part of the pipe so I'm hoping I dont throw anything off. If it does, i'll reweld it back in place. I'll be logging 12 different readings tomorrow on my laptop during my initial drive so I'll keep everyone posted. |
Congrats on finishing up the install. Can't wait to see some pics and videos.

|
so what happened? Have you been driving around?
|
yup...drove 15 miles only. I had a hectic day at work and couldn't drive it as much. I am underneath the car now fixing a tiny oil leak from one of the relocating fittings...i guess I forgot about that one. Not bad - not really leaking but I see a bit building up at the edge. Hopefully I can some footage tomorrow or at least by the weekend.
|
finally someone answering. What kind of boost are you seeing?
|
I can tell you for certain tomorrow. 1. There is no gauge installed yet and 2. I'm actually following the 60 mile under 4K thing so I wouldn't have any real numbers yet...ill get that out tomorrow.
|
sweet, good luck.

Cool thanks for the info! it really has been in limbo for a while without any reviews!
