Do you know what's causing the delay?

toner123 10-25-2010 05:49 AM

Probably ran into a issue. You kind of have to expect it when doing something like this

Well there has been no official launch date of the stage II kit actually.

Really? These were posted up 5 months ago:

YouTube - GTM 370Z SUPERCHARGER 550BHP/400 FT OF TORQUE 460 RWHP 360 RWTQ.THE MASTERPIECE

YouTube - GTM 370Z SUPERCHARGER STG1 8PSI 550BHP/400 FT OF TORQUE 460 RWHP 360 RWTQ. TEST DRIVE

That's all I (and I presume Z eliminator) want. :(

By the way, if anyone knows of a thread with this build, I'd love to see it.

That is the stage I kit, he was asking about the stage II kit.
The stage I is on sale right now, I have it, DannyGT has it, a few G37 guys have it installed.

The stage 2 kit comes with a bigger supercharger all together, The delays we are have are all manufacturing delays and so forth .

WHEWWWW, OK UPDATE! She's alive!!!!

Sorry folks! No major issues just tired as all hell. 18 hours straight (slow working and making sure everything is torqued correctly, etc.) and 2 hours sleep!

The little issues...

(1) I stripped the thread off one of the adapter plates which caused a huge delay and run around time trying to get the right stuff to re-thread. –Resolved

(2) I relocated the MAFs a bit more down the pipe so that when I tapped in for the water/meth it wouldn’t spray to close to it. -Resolved (I’m no pro so the welds aren’t the prettiest, LOL)

(3) Overall there are some things that are different in the instructions since it was for the G37. Power steering, mounting points for FMIC/Oil cooler, but most of it was common sense. I am no mechanic so for me to have figured it out, others should be able to as well. However, a revised 370Z specific manual would be great!

(4) Two incorrect fittings...This was the only real let down. More so because of it affecting the launch window than anything else. The two AN fitting that attach to the Setrab oil cooler (for the SC) were -8AN rather than -6AN.

To band-aid #4 - I simply bypassed the oil cooler for the sake of making sure she would turn over. I would like to point out that while it is frustrating, I can see how something like that could have been mistaken when putting the parts together and labeling them all. Not a big deal...but being 5 min away from firing her up, it was like "OMG WTF, NOOOO!!!!!!!!!”

So its about 6pm last night and we're dead tired after a hell of an exciting weekend. Fluids topped off, car still on jack stands, and SC rotrex-specific oil primed and ready to go...I fire up the laptop, and upload the supercharger map. Car is in the ON position and everything sounded and checked out OK. No codes, nothing...just nervousness.

3,2,1...a quick stuttery start and it instantly fires up and smooths out! Left the car idleing for about 5-10 minutes and it was just perfect! It was then that I let out the biggest sigh of relief! AHHHHHHH

Anyway - I have more to say but I'll make a quick video and pictures of it all. I just needed to sleep badly.

stay tuned...

dixon cider 10-25-2010 11:30 AM

Good for you Danny. Cant wait to see the pics and vids.

RCZ 10-25-2010 12:22 PM

Congrats on it turning on I guess.

Relocating the MAF sensors might affect readings slightly and might throw your tune off. I'd keep an eye on the AFR readings...at least at first while you do the initial testing.

DannyGT 10-25-2010 12:53 PM

Hey, after doing all this myself and being paranoid of every bolt being torqued correctly, I'm damn happy it turned on, and extremely happy that its so buttery smooth. The whine coming from those intakes is sex to my ears.

Sure, I'm not driving it at this moment because of those two fittings but I've waited this long...tomorrow I'll break her in nicely.

We'll see about the MAFs, I kept them on the straight part of the pipe so I'm hoping I dont throw anything off. If it does, i'll reweld it back in place. I'll be logging 12 different readings tomorrow on my laptop during my initial drive so I'll keep everyone posted.

Q8y_drifter 10-25-2010 12:56 PM

Congrats on finishing up the install. Can't wait to see some pics and videos.

RCZ 10-26-2010 09:55 PM

so what happened? Have you been driving around?

DannyGT 10-26-2010 10:05 PM

yup...drove 15 miles only. I had a hectic day at work and couldn't drive it as much. I am underneath the car now fixing a tiny oil leak from one of the relocating fittings...i guess I forgot about that one. Not bad - not really leaking but I see a bit building up at the edge. Hopefully I can some footage tomorrow or at least by the weekend.

RCZ 10-26-2010 10:07 PM

finally someone answering. What kind of boost are you seeing?

DannyGT 10-26-2010 10:14 PM

I can tell you for certain tomorrow. 1. There is no gauge installed yet and 2. I'm actually following the 60 mile under 4K thing so I wouldn't have any real numbers yet...ill get that out tomorrow.

RCZ 10-26-2010 10:28 PM

sweet, good luck.

One_Quick_Z 10-26-2010 10:35 PM

Cool thanks for the info! it really has been in limbo for a while without any reviews!

DAN

Q8y_drifter 10-26-2010 10:46 PM

I agree. Keep us posted on any updates, issues, etc. This is good info for the rest of us.

J. Dub 10-27-2010 03:49 PM

Thanks for coming back and helping us out Danny

roplusbee 10-29-2010 09:45 AM

Awesome. Good to hear that you car is coming along well. Thank you for the update.

DannyGT 10-29-2010 12:34 PM

Sorry guys, I have been stupid busy...but the weekend is near so I'll get some video's up by Sunday'ish.

christian370z 10-29-2010 12:36 PM

I personally can't wait, thanks for taking the time do that Danny!

shumby 11-01-2010 08:11 AM

Sorry guys been away for about a week. Here is a fast update on my kit. Working well at ^ pounds. BUT I BLEW THE TRANNY. Thats right 5th 6th and 7th no longer work. The TQ of this kit is a bit much for the AT. The car is at the dealer right now. we will see what they say. I am keeping my fingers crossed that i get warranty. There are some changes i will have to make to driving style at hiway speeds once this is fixed but I can tell you right now I will not be going with the 8 PSI pulley. Should have got a 6MT. oh well Next car.

xbigb4ller69z 11-01-2010 08:23 AM

dang sorry to hear that... . Not to be negative or anything, but I really don't think a dealer would cover a transmission if you have a forced induction system on your car. If anything, you're better off taking everything apart and putting it back to stock before taking it in. Thats your best bet :tiphat:

shumby 11-01-2010 08:38 AM

lol no hiding this. my dealer knows I have a SC.

docaam 11-01-2010 08:43 AM

thats shocking for me atleast just to hear that, as my car is an import here in dubai and dont have any warranty for sure lol.

I am a bit of a noob but then you can't even do any kind of FI on our auto cars or it would have saved you if there was a valvebody upgrade?

shumby 11-01-2010 08:47 AM

infiniti and yes.

shumby 11-01-2010 08:48 AM

Oh and FYI new tranny is $9200. lol wife is mad at me lol

G37Sam 11-01-2010 08:50 AM

I'm sorry to hear that Shumby.. hopefully you'll get that resolved

Do you have any sort of mods on your 7AT apart from the oil cooler?

why you tell her for? I guess you'll be sleeping in the living room from now on.

Poor Shumby! I hope your dealer find's the tranny not caused by your SC and covers it.

You must not be married, Weiboy. How the F you gonna hide $9 large from your wife, lmao

Q8y_drifter 11-01-2010 08:54 AM

I still don't understand how you could blow the trans. The same trans is used in the M56 and QX56. These are much heavier cars that put even more stress on the trans and produce even more torque (413ftlb @ crank for the QX56).

DannyGT 11-01-2010 08:57 AM

Quick update on mine too...To echo what Shumby has said, the torque is very significant down low. Additionally, I had some flutter too...But I ran a couple of tests, including bypassing the bypass valve entirely and the flutter is gone, so it doesnt seem to be resonance, just simply the BPV. If thats the worst of it than I'm sure it will be an easy fix. You dont hear it at idle, or under any load above 30-40% throttle...its 100% during cruising. I dont count decel or in between shifts because thats how its suppose to work.

I got the teflon paste to seal up the small oil leak I had on the oil relocation fittings so that should be OK now.

Sorry I havent gotten any pics or video, but I was throwing a huge halloween party and I had no time. Hopefully I can get back to all this during the week and get some good footage for you guys!

I was just informed that the 7AT can only handle 298-lb ft, soooooooooo.....
