I can guarantee you that those hi hp engine builds in those cars cost way more than 30k! Even the APS TT kit for the viper will cost you 20k installed and that's just a TT kit! I know of the companies you speak of and heard of many of their car builds and they simply are not putting into their builds the amount of parts that this one is getting. They are not receiving a racing motor... They simply are getting beefed up rods and piston heads and a piggy back ecu cause if they went haltech or similar that's more than $5k in ecu and sensors. Last time I checked a full haltech or pro efi system for te Z was going to cost in the neighbor hood of $7k with all the options if I recall correcty. Let's look at Hennessy who does 1000hp+ vipers: you pay in excess of $60k+ for their kits and these guys will punch you out a 2000hp viper if you want it. Just an FYI my z cost $40k cause I bought one of the first white fully loaded Z's on the east coast. Also, If you read my first post about the cost it mentions if you bought everything at retail. Do you pay retail? I sure as hell don't. Remember you have to pay to play! If you can find a Ferrari or lambo around $50-$60k that's a 360, 430, gallardo or other you can bet it's a scam, salvaged or been highly molested and that's a fact trust me if they were available at that price I would of bought one!

here you go, took 5 seconds, only has 12000 miles so i was wrong sorry, would have done it too but cant afford maintenance or insurance and a 24 year old with a ferrari is obnoxious and only flaunting money. I can find these all day long. Economy sucks wish I was older. Anything else you want to disprove about my statements. A total engine rebuild is no different than you. Any why update their ECU's, they are ten times better than ours.

These sell in Phoenix all the time right now for 50 or 60k

LateralG'z 07-15-2010 08:15 PM

here is a better example, this guy will let it go for 60K

LateralG'z that is just the current bid... Not the reserve and it's also a 9 yr old car. I am 26 and yeah my insurance would cover that to save my life. Good try eBay isn't a good barometer on what the real market price is. Lets get beyond this price comparo of used old exotic cars and why I am building this super car.

Okay, I am sorry, tell me why you are doing this.

bullitt5897 07-15-2010 08:33 PM

I want a super car built my way for a fraction of the cost. That's why I am doing it

It's all good bro  trust me I ran many options through my head before I bought the Z :) I'd do it all over again in a heart beat :D

Okay, so when am I going to see this VR38 plenum installed? I'm pretty eager since I plan to get this setup as well.

I'm pretty eager to see how the TBs and intake arms will fit, and crossing my fingers that with the plenum and engine cover in place the factory strut brace would still fit.

370z TT 07-16-2010 09:46 AM

Isn't 1000hp a bit much for a track car? I'm not trying to flame anyone but after 700 or 800hp it becomes kind of unusable because cornering would not be the same and straightways would be pure acceleration. Also what brakes are you going to be using? What size rubber are you gonna run in the rear to hook up? Is the traction control system going to be modified or is it going away all together.

RCZ 07-16-2010 10:23 AM

I think 1000hp is for show...then when he wants to actually use the car he will tune it down to 600hp or something actually usable... that being said...I am curious to know the answers to 370z_TT's questions as well.

What are you doing for cooling Bullitt? Going to need some SERIOUS cooling capabilities to keep oil temps in check...and I mean serious.

Also what are you doing for the diff? the Stock one is going to die with that much power, not to mention suck.

bullitt5897 07-16-2010 12:39 PM

I will talk to Sam and see how things are going with the install and what kind of time frame until Tuning begins. Hopefully I can get you guys pics of the Plenum soon enough.

Like I said in my earlier post once you get to those Hi HP numbers tracking the car is a whole different ball game. You approach corners totally different the best way to relate it is our cars versus a miata. A miata can be full throttle through a turn where we can not. Its the same concept except the acceleration is that much faster.

Brakes:
Currently I am running Alliance's 8piston 15" rotor, 6piston 14" rotor combo. I will be running this and testing the system out to see what its capabilities are.

Cooling Issues:
We are working with several manufacturers to address these potential issues and we are using every available option to keep this thing cool.

Differential:
Currently we are running the stock differential but will be replacing it with an aftermarket unit once track testing begins.

hope that answers your questions.
