I think we've already gotten all the bones we're gonna get until they're later in the development process.

Sorry.. no details yet.. but it's coming..

Skorch 05-17-2009 11:52 PM

Any hints on the time frame of when the details/official news may be coming? :D

You'll know the day I get the word.. :)

what dia. exhaust setup do i need for a supercharger? and would it be better to have high flow cats or catless?

Brazilbro 05-18-2009 09:16 PM

catless is always better

bobby8621 05-19-2009 07:06 AM

do i need 3" + or can i go with 2.5"inch exhaust

2.5" or a little bigger is ok. 3" is really only good for turbos.

It would be better to have high flow cats.

You may lose 10 hp or so with high flow cats, but maybe even less than that.

The benefit is that It reduces emissions of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen by over 90%. I'm sure you've heard it, but let me reiterate it..... We are killing our planet. Having cats on a performance vehicle is the least that one can do to help out the environment.

One car on the road without catalyitic convertors is like having an 20 extra cars on the road.

I was following a Mitsu evo last night with aftermarket blowoff valve, fart can muffler and no cats. The fumes were making my eyes water every time I came up behind him at a stop light. Disgusting. Turning the clock back to 1968 just to get an extra 10 hp? It made me so mad that I thought about writing his plate number down and sending an email to the highway patrol.... in the end I chilled out and didn't do it.... but I could sure see someone else doing it. I would be a little worried about having a catless car just because if they forced me to do an emissions test over a complaint, I would have to undo all my other mods.

Just for you phimosis im taking my cat off my pick up too :gtfo2:
carbon has not been proved to cause gobal warming take this to the off-topic part of the site.

It made you so mad that u wanted to write his plate number down.. are you insaine??? I mean really?? the first mod i do it take off the cat. its awesome here in indiana we have no vet testing! and the air is great.

This probably isn't even a good board to have this debate, period. We're here to discuss cars, not politics and geoscience :)

Since you've told us that Stillen is planning on retaining the stock hood for their upcoming 370z supercharger project, can we assume that positive displacement supercharging is out? The underhood space is so small that the stock intake manifold is within millimeters of the hood.

I think a ATI Procharger C2 would look sweet in there:

Think you could fit something like that with a custom intake manifold that accomodates both stock throttle bodies on the left side of the manifold? You could go from the supercharger to intercooler to throttle bodies as a single pipe, all on the left side, then split it with a Y as it gets to the throttle bodies.

I'm just dying to know what you guys are up to......

Regressing back to my previous car (Mustang), positive displacement superchargers typically removed the intake manifold and sat nicely in the valley between the heads. I'm not too familiar with the VQ37VHR layout, but it could very well be likely that a positive displacement S/C can still fit if it can sit nicely in between the heads.

Now, something unrelated:

Personally, if its a positive displacement S/C, it has to be a twin screw to be worth my time. At the very least, an Eaton TVS blower would do. Supercharging the VQ37VHR would most likely need to be a positive displacement because of the DTB. I can easily see a positive displacement S/C replacing the manifold, and both throttle bodies and going to a larger, single intake pipe and filter.

Just my :twocents:

Catalytic converters convert carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide to CO2...a well known global warmer!
