I guess we will have to wait and find out.

With the older G's and Z's, you can achieve a little more than 500+ from what I have seen. With valve body and torque converter upgrades.

So it will be interesting to see what they can handle.

there is a G37 5AT that has tt'd and is stock and has 483 Whp and the tranny is doing fine.

The prior 5ats were finicky. Some guys could hold +100hp/tq of boost for a couple years, and other guys would need valvebody work in a matter of weeks.

Give the 7at some time.

I wish Kenne Bell would do their twin screws for something non-American... Maybe a 370...
That would own all other SC's, plus they're smaller than a typical roots.

I want to see them make a mammoth blower for the 370... You'll gain 80HP just from efficiency alone.

Another problem was the shift speed on the old 5AT was so slow that the engine would overrev during the shift and hit the rev limiter on almost any FI application on the transmission (see some threads on it at my350z). You had to get a valve body upgrade (at about 1000 bucks) and reflash the rev limit higher to even start using that tranny and it was still weak. The new 7AT seems to be much better with faster shift speeds but it's kind of a wait and see. This tranny holds 390 hp on the FX45 w/o any problems and I assume it's gonna be somewhat over engineered.

The rev limit thing may well be an issue with FI with our 7AT too. The overrev is tiny and barely noticeable, mostly on 1-2, but you can tell it's on the verge of not reacting quickly enough. Right now the main limitation is my reaction time though. You have to learn to click a little bit before you want the shift to occur, so you don't bump the redline before the 7AT even starts the actual shift. I'm getting better at it every day, but clicking at exactly the right moment on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts during WOT accel is still a little challenging.

A little off topic, but I wish I could have driven a 7AT. Nissan seems to have done an excellent job with it and it sounds like a blast to drive.

First 370 I drove was 7AT... they are fun.. but I just can't get over the disconnected feel... but it was a breeze to drive fast without worrying about poor shifts!

I just went to tirerack.com, the major sponsor of "One Lap of America" and they have the "final results" of the 2009 One Lap, dated May 9, 2009. No where did I see a 370z listed.

Did Stillen pull out? Could they not get the car ready in time? Did it blow up and DNF? Am I looking at results for a difference race than what I thought they were entering?

Need more go faster now!

Josh@STILLEN 05-16-2009 05:30 PM

That press release was issued by the builder of the car, who we had never spoken to.. they added us as a supercharger.. I don't know why. :)

It wasn't STILLEN who was entering..

Phimosis 05-17-2009 02:28 PM

Oh wow. Lol. That seems pretty shady. Not on Stillen's part... but it still is bad that your name got attached to a failed project.

Since you've told us that Stillen is planning on retaining the stock hood for their upcoming 370z supercharger project, can we assume that positive displacement supercharging is out? The underhood space is so small that the stock intake manifold is within millimeters of the hood.

I think a ATI Procharger C2 would look sweet in there:
http://www.procharger.com/images/350Z.underhood.gif

Think you could fit something like that with a custom intake manifold that accomodates both stock throttle bodies on the left side of the manifold? You could go from the supercharger to intercooler to throttle bodies as a single pipe, all on the left side, then split it with a Y as it gets to the throttle bodies.

I'm just dying to know what you guys are up to......
