If you offer a retail kit would you include an option to get the DCT through you or would we need to source our own?

Everyone will have to source their own trans. I cant take on responsibly for the transmissions assumed/claimed condition, and it would also increase costs considerably to be shipping transmissions here just to turn around and ship them to someone else. The only way I could realistically offer transmissions for sale, is if they are factory new (big money)

So you secured someone that can support the TCM and wiring? I was looking into a VR30 7AT Swap for my car but this is very interesting.

I wont be getting involved in that end of the conversion, I am focusing purely on the mechanical components to complete a physical installation of the trans. I dont have the support structure or time for all the customer service to get much involved on the control side of things, other than just pointing interested parties in a few directions.

SpecialtyZ may offer a control/support package/kit in one way shape or form, when they are ready to do that.

Otherwise, this conversion will require someone to spend a lot of time learning and understanding the tasks at hand.. or having a shop do it for them. Until there is a user friendly control package available, this conversion would be the stuff of nightmares for anyone who isn't electronically/wiring savvy and confident. I would say that its too early to even bring these parts to market because of it, but in other venues I have received plenty of demand for the parts regardless, from people who are ready to tackle it themselves or have someone they know do it.

Ugg the Tuning fiasco is going to make this difficult with all the changes coming from Ecutek. The crap has hit the fan.

A different strategy could be implemented if it becomes required. Using ECUTEK custom maps was merely the most convenient and logical way to approach it. Thankfully the transmission is entirely controlled with a standalone TCM, and it does not actually require any communication with the ECM to run and drive; it just refines the integration. There are other ways to handle it, should it become necessary. But this is all going to be extremely intimating from the user perspective, so I wont be surprised if the first batch is the last batch. We will just see how it goes, and keep the production numbers extremely low for now.

All good, I am just watching the show at the moment.

The new flywheels came out awesome. I have a couple kits to ship out next week, I am going to try and find a moment to lay one out for nice white backdrop product photos.

Not this year, haven’t had/made any time for wrenching all year. My Z is mostly just a part test fitting car these days.

What did you gain by re-designing it? Drivability or NVH improvements?

Its better for the transmissions lifespan to have some dampening in the flywheel. In the swap groups where most people have 1 piece flywheels, some of the 4 cylinder guys have had premature failure of the clutch baskets. It hasn't shown up as an issue for 6 or 8 cylinder cars yet, likely due to the smoother power delivery, but better to just get ahead of it and take care of it now. A couple hundreds bucks extra for better flywheel now, can save a lot of time/money/hassle later.
