1. Boosted Performance 620whp/489tq
2. 12 Psi
3. Ecutek Tuned by Seb
4. Mickey Thompson ET Street SS 305/40/18
This is my first boosted car and tire setup. I can say it's ALOT better than the stock nismo tires. It doesnt hook in 1st or 2nd but I'm pretty sure I need the driver mod. After I wear these out I will probably go with a 305/45/18 next.

That’s what we’ve all been say for weeks. There is no street tire that will hold the power of a turbo in 1st/2nd and even 3rd fear depending on your power level.

Fixed

Nice. What fuel are you using?

Also I recently upgraded from 275/35PSS to 305/30 RE71R.

All I can say, is its a huge difference. I feel much more safe on these new tyres!

Who told you that the spring in the WG has to be close to what you're actually going to be putting out? I have had an 11psi spring on a single 44mm Tial WG in my Supra for years and on high boost it sees 30+psi. The car has never had any boost issues either. Boost control is absolutely perfect and has never over boosted once.

Sooooo I switched to the R888R last week. It's a 305/30 versus the 325 RE11 on my other rear wheels. Night and Day. The car was completely sketch at 12psi doing 3rd gear WOT logging on RE11's. To the point I could'nt actually look over at the AFR gauge to see if it was matched up with what ECUTEK was logging for AFRs. Got the tires on just in time for Seb to up the boost for MAP 2. Got the tires warmed up after a Cruise log then did an Area 51 set of 3rd gear WOT logs. I had watched a review of the Triple 8R on a 900rwhp Mustang where he did a third gear pull and dead hooked so I was confident. For my purposes I'm no convinced because I wotted it and it just went. No spin , just go. For giggles I pulled it in 2nd with the same result. I can't tell you how much power I'm making now, but it's a lot more than the 509 from before and alot more than the 10psi wastegate.
People talk about the longevity of the tire, or rain but seriously I have a spare set of 95% RE11's sitting on a spare set of Nismo wheels. Here's the video review I was watching. I felt it for myself.

Your waste gate spring pressure should be where the wastegate opens at without any boost controlling devices ... 11lbs spring should yield ~11lbs boost .. of course you can increase it with controllers .. point was that you should know what spring/boost you are running before adding controllers especially if you are over boosting .... I would never use a boost controller to fight a over boost condition .. I would swap springs to lower than desired set point add a controller to increase as desired
