Where to install Stillen Supercharger in LA?

Hi guys, I am not too sure if this question has been asked before, but I am looking for a shop that members have good experience with installing the Stillen Supercharger around San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles area. Stillen suggested an authorized installer but it is like 100 miles away from my place. There are some shops around the area but i don't feel like going to a shop that does not have experience installing the kit in our car, and charge extra because it took them longer to figure out how to get it installed lol. Thanks in advance for all input. :tiphat::tiphat:

If you're looking for a local place, try specialty Z, you'll be well taken care of.

Also, if you haven’t purchased the kit yet; You may want to contact TopGunZ on the forum,,,as he’s improved the Stillen kit & added an air/air inter cooler.
He’s a sponsor on here & sells a complete turnkey kit!
:)

How about your driveway ;)

He's in California... Beware of CARB!

I bet Fast Intentions would do it even though they have their own kit.

You do have Stillen as an alternative installer albeit a pia drive down to the OC :ugh2:

Do listen to jchammond, contact (TopGunZ) to get a good direction about getting the best out of that kit.

Well the topguz kit is not legal here in CA... so you've been warned.

Specialty Z is in Chatsworth and Stillen is in Costa Mesa. Both locations are a doable drive from San Gabriel Valley.

Also only the Stillen Supercharger is CARB certified, with the Stillen tune. Thus if you obtain a custom tune, you may not pass the emissions testing -- or you should be prepared to default back to the Stillen tune at the time of testing. Hence, you should check with Stillen regarding this issue.

Yes, the stillen kit requires you to stay on their tune and pulley/supercharger setup which greatly limits horsepower/fun factor.

Agreed. The reason why I went with a supercharger is because that is the only kit that is CARB legal to my understanding. If I wanted more power and not care about getting caught, I would go for a TT for sure It sucks to live in CA. :shakes head:

Thank you for that info! I am not too sure if Stillen will install it because they advised me to drive even further away to install the kit even though stillen is like 30 mins away from my house lol let me email them to see if they can install them. Thanks !

there isnt really a way for to tell that you are running custom tune though is there? AFAIK smog is only visual + codes

I understand that if you live in an enhanced smog requirement area (most of California), the ASM2 emission test checks the vehicle current tune on the ECU against the manufacturer's tune. Thus, if there are dramatic changes to the engine timing etc. you can fail the test.

Interesting, I did not know that as I've not heard someone fail the smog test due to a tune. I wonder how if they'd be able to detect a custom tuned stillen kit (assuming through obdii)

Several people have recommended Specialty Z and for good reason. Seb knows what is necessary and is better at it than Stillen. Give him a call and he can answer all your questions. He won't try to convince you to come to him because he is just not that way and he doesn't need the business, he got plenty!
