GTM Stage 1.5 Supercharger instruction manual

I'd like to view the GTM stage 1.5 supercharger installation manual but can not find a pdf online.
I have a stage 1 SC and would like to look at the component differences to look into upgrading my unit.
Thanks

I used the Stage 2 manual for my install. It is accurate on all but 1 or 2 minor steps. Gives you a better idea of the install because the intake/piping setup is the same as the stage 2. The only difference is that they used the smaller stage 1 compressor for the 1.5 kit.

Sounds like you already found it, but there it is just in case.

Thanks for sending me the info. I look forward to checking it out!!

No problem. Let me know if you have any questions. I did the install myself so I can probably help out.

Looks like the difference on the stage 1 to the stage 1.5 is the intake piping and the use of a motor mount.
I thought that I read that the Rotrex unit is the same for stage 1 and 1.5 .
Not sure where the difference in horse power comes from?
The intercooler piping and intercooler appears to be the same.
I don't know if there is a difference in the fuel pump or the injectors.?

AntiVenom 11-06-2016 06:24 PM

my understanding is that the difference in HP actually came from using the stage 2 intake piping. The original design was too restrictive for the stage 1 SC to achieve maximum HP. someone more knowledgeable might correct me, but that was how i understood it when i was researching.

they also added the fuel pump voltage stabilizer kit (basically runs thicker wires directly to the fuel pump). this may have helped them tune for a bit more HP as well.

Naturally the stage 2 instructions do not show how the stage 2 intake piping is installed. Maybe I can find pics of the intake installation on a stage 1.5 or 2 build on this forum.
I also noticed the wiring difference to the fuel pump.
I did my build also and I was curious as to the differences between 1 and 1.5.
Seems fairly simple to upgrade if the intake and motor mount were found.

I am pretty sure this is what the stage 1 intake looks like with two smaller cones, and seems smaller diameter piping (edit: looking closer the piping diameter looks the same). Sounds like you currently have one so you can confirm if I am right. Looks like this

Stage 1.5 and 2 look like this. the intake runs straight the supercharger. (also check out the rest of that album http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l.../P11700481.jpg)

looking at the photos of the stage 1 reminds me that the stage 1.5 & 2 vents the bypass valve to atmosphere as well. not sure what that does for power.

Stage 1.5 & 2 intake pipe to the Rotrex unit is now a Vband that bolts directly to the Rotrex unit. You basically need to sets of hands, one under the car and one above to guide it in nicely.

The major difference is that one intake piece, where the stage 1 had a piece with an over 90 degree bend which did not allow you to run anymore air into the Rotrex unit. I know this because I had the smallest pulley possible on my car and barely made over 8PSI, it was an airflow restriction. The piece of pipe in the lower left corner of this photo is the intake piece which takes the 2 intake filters into 1 and then bends around and into the Rotrex unit. Where with the Stage 1.5/2 you have a "straight" piece of pipe.

Antivenom, yes my unit has the two intakes.
I was wondering if theDreamer would chime in, you were very helpful to me while doing the build .
So, if I were to look into trying to find the intake, would I also need a different fuel pump ( other than the wiring thing) or injectors?

kentmo280z 11-08-2016 06:26 PM

Well, I'd like to do this upgrade but where would one find the components?
I checked with Vivid racing about the 1.5 upgrade and they sell it with a new SC... .. Not what i,m trying to accomplish.
I'm wondering why the current intake cant be reworked into a straight-on intake ( maybe matt would sell me his :) ) , which would eliminate the need for a new SC housing. I would also rework the MAF piping to go from 2.5" ~ 3". Seems like those mods are do able. I would need the motor mount and the Voltage thing for the fuel pump. I have 600cc injectors , wondering if I'd need to go to 650's. I assume the stage 1 fuel pump is the same as the stage 2's??

Kraftwerksusa.com carries the bigger c38-91
rotrex SC units on there site, plus rotrex fluid and optional pulley sizes, not sure if that helps at all,t hey also do custom piping I believe.

Anyone handy with welding intake pipes should be able to get you what you need in terms of the pipes. I can take photos of my intake piping next to a ruler. easy since they are currently out. I will also keep you in mind as i reinstall over the next couple of weeks and take pictures of the install as well.

I have considered bumping to the stage 2 supercharger (found it on Kraftwerks), but the GTM has a custom outlet port that redirects it forward. I haven't measured but I doubt the housing from the smaller unit will work.

Does Vivid carry actual GTM/Gamma made upgrades?

kentmo280z 11-09-2016 10:18 AM

I emailed both gamma and vivid. They have a 1.5 upgrade that includes the piping and a bigger compressor. $3500.00. I'm just looking to do the piping upgrade. If I can use my intake pipe (or aquire another one preferably), I think it could be cut and retrofitted to make it a straight pipe. Similar to the stage 2 intake . The motor mount is the item that I would need to aquire. I'd rather aquire the whole set up if I can find it minus the compressor. Sounds like a shot in the dark there.

AntiVenom,
If you could send pics, that would be appreciated!
Do you have stage 1.5 or 2?
What size injectors are you using?
Can you get a pic of the relay so maybe I can source that also?
Thank you ,
Kent
