Tuning in a state without emissions

My car was last tuned in a state that required inspections and passed making 505whp. Down here where I am now in florida we don't have emissions. Anybody have any input or opinions on what numbers I'll make now that I don't have to worry about passing an emissions test?? Im getting the tune soon and will post the new numbers. I'm just curious and a little impatient haha.

So you have cats on still?

Yup. Still got high flow cats.

i don't see you making more hp if you still have the same parts. since you don't have emissions, replace the cats with test pipes and you should make more power.

You might pick up like 2hp with test pipes. There isn't a big difference from High flows to test and if you have all the breathing mods done then the returns are diminishing so it wont be anything noticeable.

This. It'll be pretty close to the same unless you take the cats out.

My tuner told me to expect as much as 5% more if I yanked the cats out of mine and re-tuned.

High flows?

To my understanding without emissions I'm able to make the A/F ratio a little richer, which is what causes a car to fail the carbon test no? I was thinking of getting test pipes bit I'm really satisfied with the sound of my car and I'm afraid test pipes will give me more of a raspy sound. Also, somebody mentioned that the back pressure provided by hfc vs test pipes are more beneficial with boost. I'm not too sold on that though

Yeah, he assured me it would be a noticable difference. Next time I mess around with the motor, I'll punch out the cats and see if he's right.

Turbos and backpressure do not like each other.

Well if you decide to go this route of test pipes. There is only one test pipe to look at. Motordyne ART pipes. They sound better than high flows with the way they resonate. I went from Berk hfc to these and the sound actually got just a tad quieter.

Unless I'm way off base, emissions tests are run at part throttle and there should not be hardly any boost at that load so the AFR map should be about the same as a NA engine. There is probably some to gain but I agree with the others, time to make changes if you want the biggest gain.

Where you plan to go for tuning here in Orlando?

I was looking at those not too long ago and that's exactly what I was hearing about them. Only problem is with the resonators, they won't fit underneath because of where the turbos sit. I was kind of upset lol
