I know that this has been covered a bunch of times but now it is my turn to post a build. I'll be doing a Stillen SC build in June. The kit was ordered yesterday. :happydance:
The plan is to do the install with the help of a fellow gearhead and then take the car to Z1 Motorsports for the EcuTec tune. I am also having Z1 install my new Quaife diff and WL bushing kit. Along with the SC kit I'll be installing a 25 row Z1 oil cooler kit and the TopgunZ A2A kit. I have a Galeforce cubby gauge mount on the way that will have AEM gauges, oil pressure and boost/AFR. GTR sparkplugs will be installed at the time of the SC installation. I'll be ordering new wheels and tires in a couple of weeks. I've decided to go with Avant Garde M310 Hyper silver 19x9.5F and 19x11R with RE-11 275 F and 305 R. I'll keep the stock clutch until it starts to show signs of giving up and then I'll address that upgrade. This is gonna' be FUN!:excited: |
Congrats! And welcome!
Are you considering Topgunz A2A upgrade? |
Congrats!
FYI even if you keep the 8psi pulley, You will make more power with the A2A kit because it ditches that restrictive intake boot and also will have much colder intake temps = more power. |
Thanks guys! Yes, I'm am hoping to have the $$ for the A2A upgrade.
Top, what is the delivery time? |
Roll Tide!!!!
|
I could get you one by June for sure. I have 6 Y-pipes coming soon, 2 of which are spoken for. But by June I should have enough on stand by.
|
Congrats on the purchase! :driving:
Trust me after having one of these kits and knowing what we know I would highly recommend putting the wheels and tires on HOLD, and getting in line for this new A2A Kit! You will save money in the long run.:tiphat: |

As long as I run the stock wheel and tire setup, they will prevent me from overloading the clutch. When the wheel/tire upgrade happens the clutch will have to be next in line. I also want the Akebono brake kit. My Z is a touring model so it needs several performance upgrades. If I could just win the lottery.......... |

I'm in. I'll dip into my savings a little more. :eekdance: |
These guys will have you donating organs before its all said and done...

:icon18: :rofl2::bowrofl:
I hate when coffee shoots out my nose! |

You only need one kidney and half your liver. Well worth it for boost. :rofl2: |
:wtf2: You would list the two organs I need for drinking.........

Congrats OP  |
Got a email from Stillen that the kit should ship today!
All I need to finish up is the TopgunZ A2A kit. |
More good news! I've landed a couple of video shoots that I was not planning on and those will pay for the rest of the wheel and tire fund.
It is looking like Christmas at the house with all of the great stuff arriving. Thanks to everyone on the forum, this has been a great project so far that has lots of backup data to know that the build is going to be successful. I should be on the hunt by the end of June. You FI guys know what I mean....... As a side note, last weekend we had the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports park. If you have never been to Barber you have to go! The track looks like a golf course and is very well organized. Google it and see. On the way to the track, while cruising at ~90 I get passed by some idiot driving a Range Rover hauling a trailer with a sport bike on it. A couple of miles down the road my Passport 9500 starts going crazy so I back down real quick. A State Trooper comes blowing by me and nails the Range Rover driver. My wife and I laughed at the idiot. |
It's here!
The only missing component for the build is the A2A system from TopgunZ. I even went and bought the oil and filter for a oil change while adding the oil cooler kit. |
Wheels and tires ordered today!
Avant Garde M310 19x9.5F and 19x11R Hypersilver w/RE-11 265F 305R w/TPMs Get Your Wheels and Tire Rack purchases. Just need the A2A kit.......... |
Jason emailed to let me know that the M310 wheels are not in stock so I am moving up to the M590. This will cause a slight delay. I hope the stock wheels with S04 tires will hook up with the dyno and not slip.
|
The so4 hooked on the dyno for me. I really like them fir the price but I think I will try something else next time just to see what else is out there. Looking forward to the build buddy. So exciting!

Hey Tbatt, I ran my stock clutch for a few years lol, this was on the stillen kit,
The only time I would slip is a hard shift from one gear to another, etc 2 gear shifted at 6500rpm, it would have trouble grabbing 3rd gear. but otherwise is wasn't too bad. this was on the stock stillen kit. im not sure if the clutch will hold the A2A kit, I made 50 more wheel torque with the A2A, same dyno, same pulleys. |
Even if it holds, it won't hold for long. Don't toast it, upgrade it. Have you upgraded the csc?

With the 305 RE-11 rear tires, they should get some pretty good grip so I will need to be mindful of the clutch until it is upgraded. Planning on going with the OS Giken twin disc setup and the HD CNC CSC from Z-Speed (I think that is who has the csc kit). I've been talking to a local shop that I trust and they are willing to help out with the clutch mods. They already know I'm crazy (I get it from my dad). And then there are the brake upgrades..........$$$$$$$$$$$$ My wife is going to be scared sh*tless! She thinks the stock car is too fast, HA!:driving: |
Make sure you get a video of her freaking out the first time you punch it.

Good luck with your build  |

Tires have arrived. This is some serious rubber!
It's starting to look like Christmas in my garage! Sorry about the quality of the picture but my hands were shaking from the excitement, yeah, thats it.........:happydance: |
A2A kit on order as well a Vortech 9psi pulley set. So far everything is falling in to place for the June 10th start date.
|
Are u gonna upgrade ur fuel system too for E85? Or are u gonna stick with the Stillen Pump and Injectors that come with the kit?
|
Sticking with the stock Stillen pump and injectors for now. We have 93 octane gas here to work with. I am hoping for around 450whp. We will see......

Now that MAY-hem (what I call the month of May) is over and my life is back to what I call "normal"......it is time to get to work on the SC build.
Today was software day. I downloaded the AEM software to setup my failsafe boost/AFR gauge and also installed UpRev on my laptop for the canned Stillen tune. Hooked up UpRev to my Z and it recognized the ECU and offered up three different tunes for it. So, with that done I know that I can proceed with the install and still have a driveable car when I'm done turning wrenches. The final tune will be with EcuTek done by Z1 Motorsports it two weeks after the install. I'm leaving a big cushion in the schedule in case I have any issues. I'm still waiting on some parts to come in so I'm not taking any chances with scheduling a diff install and tune way in advance. Better safe than sorry. The plan is still to start on June 10th with the gauges and oil cooler first and then on Saturday the 11th start with the fuel system upgrades. Fortunately and yet un-fortunately I landed another recording job Friday night and Saturday afternoon. While this will cause an interruption with the install, it will give me more funds to work with so I won't have to sell one of my kidneys after all for boost! Here are some pics of the toys. :happydance: |
I had all my parts for my install and my car was still Dien and out fir almost 2 months. Some of the parts dud not quirk correctly and had to be un-installed, reinstall, un-install and sent back then read installed when I got it back. It was crazy but it's all gravy now.
Recording gig? Me curious YzGyz |
I have a part time audio/video business that I own and operate. It pays for the toys and then some. Lately it has grown to almost a full time job but it is very seasonal which keeps me from doing it full time. The busiest months are October, December, March, April and May. We have scheduled about 80 music events per year. We specialize in live music performances. I do some studio recordings but not much. I did however, get a call yesterday to record a oboe and piano duet in a concert hall this Tuesday. I mostly do classical music and have some very high end microphones (Schoeps, Earthworks, Neumann, ect.). It is great to have a hobby that makes money and is fun to do!!
