cLKIO's Build -700HP on PUMP GAS!
I figured I would put together the build thread with my beloved Zaby. I purchased the car 2 years ago and right before I bought it, I told the wife I would not touch the car for the next 2-3 years. After 14 days of ownership, parts started coming through the door (mod itch). I love the car so much and the way it looks, I started with suspension and rims, then supercharger.
I had the supercharger rebuild and ran cog gears which blew my engine, so I purchased a built engine and ran the supercharger on my car only for few month until I took it off. Cog gears gave me so much headache and one day an m4 pulled next to me and we couldn't help it and he pulled away which pissed me off LOL. Sent the car down to maryland to AAM Competition and had their twin turbo installed along with all supporting mods, my baby made 680 at 16-17psi on 94 octane pump gas. Here is a list of all the mods (pics of car progress at the bottom, I had lots of pics before but my old phone broke so I salvaged wat I could): Engine/ Drivetrain and fuel upgrades Fully build VQ37VHR (HBR performance built VQ37VHR Bore 3.7805 Stroke 3.460 Wiseco dished 9.0:1 Pistons, Wiseco 9600 XS Rings, K1 Billet 4340 Steel H Beam connecting rods, OEM bearings) AAM Competition 370Z Twin Turbo System, Installation, and Tuning Package AAMC 3" TD Exhaust System AAM Competition 370Z Oil Cooler System (R-line water cooled) AAMC/EcuTek Base FI Package standalone ecu - boost controller and advanced traction controls AAM Competition GT-R Auto dumb Catch Can System Limited Edition Black fitted in a 370Z SPEC Super Twin Plate SS-Trim Clutch /Flywheel Assy for HR/370Z RJM 370Z/ G37 Pedal Assembly- w BOTH Clevis Fork Styles Heavy Duty Slave Cylinder w/ Lines; 07-09 HR 350Z; 09-11 370Z VHR AAM Competition twin fuel pump deatschwerks 1000CC injectors AAM return fuel kit AAM Competition 370Z Fuel Rail & Line Kit Upgrade AAM competition MAF sensors vibra-technics engine and tranny mounts (purchased 4 weeks ago, but have not heard from them yet, might have to open paypal claim). Nice! Good work bud!
|
Very nice...would have been good to see another 5-8 tau on those main bearing clearances though. With that kind of power you want to be on the "looser" end of things.
|
Most impressive. Are you going to get it painted eventually or leave the carbon fiber the way it is? Good choice on the forgestars too I ran CF10's on my Shelby with some 315's out back. How is the traction? I assume nothing until 3rd gear.
|
Big "RESPECT" :tup::tup::tup::tup:
|
Very impressive build. I'm all in drool.
Must have cost u a fortune though  |
thanks alot guys, much appreciated. The build did cost a fortune LOL, but worth every penny at the end when it all comes together running mint. Boosted Performance, you are absolutely right. Tires, I am planning on running 345 in the rears as 305 cant keep up with this power (I spin in third gear like its no one business) LOL. going to be ordering new CF5V for the rear. 12" width with 33 offset to get the 345 to fit and might get them repainted to gold color. and I will be changing the color later, I just want to leave the carbon fiber exposed and see how it looks.

I like the catch can and the overflow bottle... great numbers esp. for pump gas.
|
thanks PongSanity, I wanted the catch can so bad :)

Maybe you'll run into that M4 again and get some revenge ;-)

Hahaha ghostrider, I am dying to run into him again. But I ran against a new c63 I think they got over 500hp and it wasn't much of a race lol. Maybe if I was in forth and he in third would have been half decent run lol

I was originally going to install a twin turbo on mine but I'm leaning towards a supercharger now.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk |
Why? I would honestly take 8psi turbo all day over 10psi supercharger man. Plz don't lol

Money and risk of engine failure/damage...

Clkio, since u've had both, a SC and a TT, I am curious about your take on both. I used to also contemplate between the two on stock motor. But i made the jump to AAM TT already (albeit nit installed yet). Cheers

6 psi turbo will give you more power than 9 psi supercharger and I think will be just as safe my man. Just do your research well before pulling the plug. I wish I just went turbo from beginning
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk |
V1h definitely turbo no doubt. If your car is daily, u can get away with 6-7 psi and still make just as must or more power than supercharger at 9psi. Supercharger is great if it was little cheaper, for that money go turbo

At the end, it's all about your tune. I have a buddy of mine been running tt 10psi on his Z for the last three years and it's his daily summer without a single issue.

Hey do you know if your motor has OEM mains or are you using ARP main studs?

ARP my man

R-line oil cooling system
How's the R-LINE OIL COOLING SYSTEM performing?

After 4 month of daily driving, only issues I had with the car 1) coolant leak in one of the hoses 2)Passenger turbo where it meets the manifold came lose (all bolt came off). So I pulled the motor out and put the bolts back on and tag welded them (you need to pull entire engine to work on the turbos anyways, no room for anything in the engine bay). Other than that, car is solid with no issues. I dove the car 500 miles trip back and forth and she never let me down. GOOD JOB AAM! |
Very nice my friend! Awesome transformation! But did I miss something? Was the car painted black after the built engine went in?

Life been busy guys and I have not had a chance to update This. In Feb 2017, I decided to build the Diff and add few suspension components (SPL endlinks and lockout kit). I also wanted to raise the car a little because the bodykit sits low making it very hard to drive everyday in the summer so I also installed the OEM nismo suspension as well. Here are some pics
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psgnuk14q9.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psa6kwc01v.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psubyrpad3.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psrhpuzihq.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...pstls5k2lf.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...pshj2bhewk.jpg Also one issue I had with the Z last summer were the brakes, I was changing rotors 3-4 times a season because they keep getting warped and that's only from SPIRITED DRIVING! So after some research, I pulled the trigger on the AP racing RADI-CALS from stillen which will be installed next week, here are some pics: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psrogg1bd4.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psfaudxzre.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psa9b3f2ix.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...pstsfzaw9w.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psw7zg59et.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psw8cmorxr.jpg Lastly I decided to do some work to the interior of the Z so I ended up getting seats and a new steering wheel. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psmto8hdd3.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...psr4svaxla.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...pskqyplvrh.jpg I will be tracking her this summer to see how she does. Next winter, I will be looking into custom coilover setup |
After having done it a couple of times... How fast can you drop your motor?
|
I always take my time and there is no room in engine bay to do any work but I would say 2 days (about 20 hours) I can have it out with a help of one of my friends.
|
Absolutdly stunning and gargantuan those brakes! Price tag?
Beautiful steering wheel. Isit a re-trimmed OEM wheel? Who sculptured it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks Pal. Brakes were $6200 and were ordered straight from Stillen. The steering wheel was done by Carbonfiberelement (tony) here is the facebook link https://www.facebook.com/carbonfiberelement/ He does great work and the steering wheel quality is top notch, the cost was around $850.00 |
Thx for the infos. You must have deep pockets. Envy you :)
