STILLEN Supercharger; "A2W" IC- Pump Upgrade
2 Attachment(s)
Hey Guys
I am already thinking for weeks, :stirthepot: how can I optimize the cooling circuit from "Water to Air" Intercooler? http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1454174944 Which water pump can be installed in place of the Bosch pump? (BTW: I have no change to go "A2A Setup", all parts from the STILLEN Kit are registered with a number incl. the "Charge air pipe" Super laws we have here with us!) Has someone already experimented here and install another pump? I have the following products have been found and tend to: SPX Johnson CM90 Technical specifications: Capacity: 65 l/min (17.2 GPM) Dimensions: 244 mm long x 120 mm wide x 150 mm high Ports: 20 mm (¾") diameter http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1454173855 I look forward to an interesting exchange :tup::tup::tup: Greetings from Switzerland :tiphat: Ivo |
Hey swiss, I really don't think this will combat any heat issues. The intercooler in the mailfold is way to small.
Save your money, wait until the A2A comes out. Since you seem to track your car a lot, dump the w2A and jump on the band wagon. |

No chance for me :shakes head: |
Why is it so regulated? My concern would be if you move the water in the cooler faster will it have enough time to cool. I don't know where you could install it but a larger tank/volume of water might help. Can you install a larger cooler on it?

I've thought about this as well, you could definitely fit a larger water reservoir in the same spot, even make a custom size one to get the absolute most out of it with having the same pipe locations so it's plug and play.
You could upgrade the water pump as mentioned, which may help, it may also as Jwillis has said not improve cooling at all as it may not have enough time to circulate, having a lot more liquid would probably help with this though so it'd be a trial and error thing. Adding vents to your hood (maybe even one directly above the stillen manifold) or lifting up the rear slightly (towards windscreen) to allow heat to get out faster. Adding vents/circulation into the front bar to allow more fresh air to get in just to circulate the engine bay. Changing front bar to allow the whole frozenboost heat exchanger to pretty much be exposed for more fresh air while driving. Upgrading to E85/running water/meth kit. I've decided myself to hold out and just go with the A2A setup when it's available but the above might hopefully give you some ideas how to improve yours since country regulations are so tight. |

Thanks Guys :tiphat:
I'll try the new pump. In addition, we will change in April to Speed Density. Install a 3 bar MAP sensor incl. Temperature sensor into the Plenum and so the temperature after intercooler evaluate. (My old tuner had from me the task to install a temperature sensor. Unfortunately, he has these installed in the charging pressure pipe, which is why he screwed anything more on my "Z"! How stupid some people can be ... :shakes head:) My new idea is the following: The pump is controlled by a speed controller. The new temperature sensor (Plenum) can be read via the "PLX WiFi" and EcuTek. So I can set the optimum pump speed may. The aim is to regulate the pump via the temperature sensor in the plenum. With a minimum and maximum speed :stirthepot: Here is the basic diagram: http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1454233816 BTW: Here's a current evaluation via PLX and OBD2 under BOOST : 1. Outside temperature 10°C (50°F) via OBD2 2. MAF temperature 11°C (52°F) via OBD2 3. Boost pressure 9 psi via PLX 4. Compressed charge air temperature 110°C (230°F) via PLX 5. EGT exhaust gas temperature 850°C (1562°F) via PLX I myself was surprised by the temperature builds up in the charge air pipe at full BOOST! :excited: http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1454234135 |
So your intake is coming in at 230F and trying to be cooled by an aftercooler that is 203F? You need to figure out a way to go a2a.

Hey Top
I now.....:ugh2: Time will tell what happens behind the Plenum Intercooler ...;) |

Hey Swiss, maybe put a tube intercooler in the charge pipe? maybe that would help out a bit? it might restrict some flow, but you could always just change your pulleys to combat that. http://www.frozenboost.com/images/pr...23_picture.jpg |

We will see...;) |
Wow...Swiss....are u still using the Frozenboost Heat exchanger? If it makes a difference then the Stock Stillen one must run really hot.

I'm working on it. Should be ready for purchasing in the next few weeks.

Here's a current evaluation via PLX and OBD2 under BOOST :tup:: 1. Outside temperature 10°C (50°F) via OBD2 2. MAF temperature 11°C (52°F) via OBD2 3. Boost pressure 9 psi via PLX 4. Compressed charge air temperature 110°C (230°F) via PLX (before Intercooler) 5. EGT exhaust gas temperature 850°C (1562°F) via PLX 6. Engine cooling water 95°C (203°F) via OBD2 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1454234135 |
How do you get boost from your OBD2? I've got a bluetooth reader and the Torque app, and it only displays positive boost up to 1psi.
