600+rwhp AAM Twin Turbo Build

Chris brought us his 2013 nissan 370Z nismo for an AAM twin turbo kit, DW 1000cc injectors, DW 340lph fuel pump, CJM fuel return system, competition clutch twin disk set, fast intentions 2.5" catback exhaust & oil cooler, SPL solid rear differential bushings, innovate wideband and AEM truboost gauge aiming for 600 rwhp on 93 pump gas.

This Z had a few modifications done to it prior to arriving, such as 4.08 rear gears, stillen gen 2 intakes, HFCs, and a Borla catback exhaust.

The first thing that we did was replace the 4.08 rear gears with the stock rear gears because the car would not be driveable with boost. Once the differential was removed, we replaced the stock differential bushings with SPL solid bushings to help with the additional power as this is a common piece to fail with additional power.

Once the differential was installed, we removed the engine assembly to start the twin turbo kit install.

With the turbos mounted and clutch install, the engine assembly was reinstalled and we focused our attention to the remainder of the turbo kit such as the fuel pump, injectors, gauges, etc.

The final component that we had to install before we headed to the dyno was the fast intentions exhaust, which is one of the best exhaust systems for this platform in regards to looks and horsepower.

We were now ready to hit the dyno, after a few hours of tuning via UpRev and dialing in the AEM tru boost controller, we were able to reach Chris' horsepower goal of 600 rwhp.

We set the boost controller for two settings, one around 9 psi (low boost) and one around 12 psi (high boost), as you can see it would offer him anywhere from 517 to 600 rwhp. These pulls on the dyno were all done in fourth gear so Chris is well over the 600 rwhp when in fifth gear! :happydance::happydance:

Very nice Nik ! Thanks for sharing.

These aam kits have been really consistent with hitting the 600 mark easily..

Awesome! It's nice to know your shop is not far away. :-)

I've read that a boost controller isn't required for these kits. Without a boost controller, how are the adjustments made? Is it possible to adjust post-install or is it not accessible?

What did you tune with? ECUTek or Uprev?

Surely this engine has been "built" to handle such horsepower...

Very impressive. Me personally, I would be a little weary about 500tq on a stock motor because thats where mine grenaded, but I beat the crap out of mine pretty hard as well.

Congrats to the owner!

A boost controller is not required as the kit comes with a 6.5 psi wastegate setting. If you are looking to reach higher boost levels a boost controller will be needed as the wastegates are internally gated.

Great post, thanks for sharing.

Why would you risk your motor having it "stock" with such horsepower? Silly risk IMO.

ReflectingG0d 01-25-2016 06:00 PM

These kits do it frequently without having too much torque. I want one.
