I might actually consider this kit if i thought i had a snowballs chance in hell of passing a TX vehicle inspection with it...

blackonorange 08-24-2011 06:11 AM

If you left the exhaust stock and cats stock would you still need the resonator ?

wheee! 08-24-2011 07:26 AM

^ there IS no exhaust system with the STS turbo... the turbo IS the exhaust!

blackonorange 08-24-2011 07:40 AM

I know sorry I meant leave it all stock would it still do it?

edub370 08-24-2011 08:01 AM

another question that i'm not sure if it has been asked or not, but where exactly does this system start? is it designed to bolt inot the stock exhaust from a certain point or is there some exhuast piping provided?

Jamaica 08-24-2011 08:03 AM

Bolt on system

stells370 08-24-2011 11:04 AM

from the pictures it looks like it bolts to the cats

fxroar 08-24-2011 11:07 AM

Any update on the 370s with these installed on the road?

Jamaica 08-24-2011 11:09 AM

Yes there is one

atx370z 08-24-2011 01:05 PM

What is it about this kit that makes everyone not want to divulge any real information about it. Why aren't there any install pics? Why aren't prices for this kit posted on line? Why isn't there any pictures of the kit NOT installed? Why isn't there any good videos or sound clips? WHY WHY WHY!?

I'm very interested in this kit, but the lack of information isn't helping me make an informed decision on whether to spend the money on it or not.

Also, the Texas vehicle inspection issue...... Seems like it's something that can't be avoided.

atx370z 08-24-2011 01:06 PM

It seems like this kit would take a few hours to install. Everything bolts up underneath the car expect for the intercooloer piping which seems about as easy as installing a set of stillen intakes.

wheee! 08-24-2011 01:24 PM

The kit is a straight enough install for the big parts.... it's all the hoses and plumbing that makes it a little intricate, not to mention the new injectors and oil return lines etc.

I have seen the finished product and would not recommend this to someone to try and install without medium to advanced mechanical skills. It's a job best left to the pros!

As for the pics, STS installs these systems and posts pictures etc, but the best advice is to talk to them directly if you are serious about the system

I received my best info from Jamaica@UA, service was excellent that's who I'd contact. There aren't many pictures because other than the Nismo on their website, mine was the first done they didn't have the install manual done at the time I picked my car up, they were still putting it together. I did some of my research on the 350 forums as they have been out for a while, might help with the vehicle inspection thing. My car will be up on the hoist tomorrow getting some springs put in I will try to take some more pictures for you under the car.

atx370z 08-25-2011 05:45 PM

Just spoke with Uprev... they told me that there shouldn't be a problem passing TX inspection with this kit installed. As soon as i hear back from Jamaica@UA... I most likely will have a kit on the way.

So far STS has been very quick to respond to any questions i have had, their customer support seems to be great.

Where did you have the resonator installed? Did it quiet down the rasp?

I have a big pet peeve with rasp.... that's the only thing im afraid of with this kit.

It was an honest pleasure doing business with you.

Ron 08-25-2011 06:07 PM

The resonator was installed on the straight section right at the clamp after the y and it did take out the rasp I will try to get some more pics up for you, I'm going to a meet this Sunday so maybe you will get a couple more opinions on the sound.

Do you have boost controller or are you just running the psi of the wastegate spring?

Is it internal or external wastegate and what psi does it run at without boost controller?

Edit: i think i asked the same question.... whatever, it's late and i'm tired. :D

atx370z 08-27-2011 01:38 AM

Also, you running any gauges? I was thinking at LEAST running boost gauge. Although, i'm going to run an HKS EVC-S which will display boost so i don't really need the gauge.

:\

Bump for any updates on this kit

blackonorange 09-10-2011 09:26 AM

I wanna hear what chinooks sounds like with the resonator

Chinook 09-10-2011 10:40 AM

I dont have too much to update at this point, my car was suffering some fuel delivery issues the last couple weeks. There was a clamp that failed on the fuel pump and the hose was slipping off only allowing 25 psi fuel at full throttle. I will say that the customer support from Sts was second to none we were in communication several times a day trying to diagnose it. It started happening shortly after I had the resonator welded on so there was the fear of it being the ecm as the welding shop did not disconnect the battery. Problem is solve and car is driving back to normal I am scheduled in for this thursday to have a dyno tune done as there was a change in elevation of about 2400 feet. I am definatly going to install a fuel pressure gauge after this in addition to the A/F, boost, and oil pressure gauges i am currently running. Now that the resonator is on there it is still relatively loud but not overpowering and you can really hear the turbo since its right at the exhaust tips. It's quite a unique sound and i have had a number of people ask what type of exhaust i was running. I will try to get some audio, I wish i was better with computers but I think a buddy may be able to help me out.

blackonorange 09-11-2011 02:50 PM

Awesome man I can't wait to hear it

Mr&Mrs 09-11-2011 03:33 PM

The loudness does not bother me its the rice can rasp that im concerned with. Did the resinator get rid of this sound? Anyway you could post pics of where the resinator is? Or some under car shots on a lift? Thanks.

kosstick 09-11-2011 05:29 PM

Hmm any chance they might fab this for a g37

I believe they had someone quite interested but he decided to go another route It's worth calling them on because I think they are quite interested they'd probably need your car to do it but they did an great job with the install.

Jamaica 09-14-2011 10:36 PM

G37 thats something we can work on.

It totally got rid of the "rice can rasp" it was definatly there to begin with and now it's a lot more throaty. It's still fairly loud but it doesn't sound all muffler. and a nice rumble when slowing to a stop. I will try and get video tomorrow when it's on the dyno.

I do not yet have a boost controller i plan on putting one on during the winter and probably adding a water/meth kit. It is an external wastegate and i am running at 7 psi currently. I want to play it safe for a bit and bump up the boost after i know all is good.

it was recommended due to the change in elevation I'm at 2200' and where it was dyno'd in Utah i believe he said it was 4400-4800' so i'm in for a dynotune tomorrow. it is also running quite rich right now so i am told there is probably a bit of room to play. at w.o.t my air/fuel is at about 10.2 and sts recomends to be around 11.8.

blackonorange 09-15-2011 01:43 AM

Please show some sound clips tOmmorrow chinook I need to hear this

pyrrhus17 09-15-2011 04:17 PM

Looking forward to those numbers !

Mr&Mrs 09-22-2011 01:59 PM

Bumpin for some updates been about a week. How did the tune go? Hope you got some pics of everything and maybe some vids. With what it is going to cost me for 7AT upgrades I'm still exploring this option.

Jamaica 09-22-2011 02:01 PM

Robert you have my number

Mr&Mrs 09-22-2011 02:11 PM

Yep and I have been holding off calling you for months now. I have the money to do everything I'm just trying to make sure I'm happy with my choice. Plus I may ditch this project for something else coming out in April next year ;-)

Jamaica 09-22-2011 02:25 PM

call me , text me lol. We can talk about the new project.

kosstick 09-22-2011 08:25 PM

Nothing for the G37 huh

Jamaica 09-22-2011 08:29 PM

STS will do it for the G37.
