Fender vents - which one...

Want a pair of vented fenders, all the available vented fenders look the same, admittedly Fly1's I like and even Carbon Signals, but with PA roads, I fear the fenders would get torn up in short order with chipping.

I have 2 fenders coming and looking to do one of the following, I like the MRWorks GT version but would like to keep the turn signal light. The other is one I found on Bulletproof's blog, a tad different setup as they put the vent in the skirt. I would still keep it in the fender. Sorry about the size of the pics.

Here are pics of both. MRWorks fender vent

Unknown from Japan, but digging this design, can make it easily functional and still retain
the turn signal indicator.

I vote #2

Jordo! 12-11-2014 08:11 PM

I thought there was an option for turn signal on #1 (well, a body shop could make it work if you want), but otherwise I like #2 as well.

cooltoy 12-11-2014 08:18 PM

Any further away pics of #2?

I think it could be placed below the bodyline and still look alright. I'm going to be mocking up some cardboard this weekend to see what I can come up with.

#2, only if you can make it functional to the engine compartment.

Does this count? Hood is getting painted come springtime, if there is differences in the shades of black with nthe new Nismo front end, everything will be blended, figured if I was going to do the fenders now would be the time to do it.

My fenders get my vote ;)

OMGWTFBBQ 12-11-2014 10:06 PM

What do you think about these?

Vented fenders and keeps the turn signal functionality.

I personally have the Varis front wide fenders, but they're not for everyone I guess.

Didn't you make yours, I thought I seen last night searching around you showing pics of the process you did to make them. Alot of work - my hats off to ya.:tiphat:

bullitt5897 12-11-2014 10:13 PM

Yes I designed mine and had them made through my partners at DTM Autobody. Expensive but at the cost of like 4 -5 sets of varis fenders!!!

THE REAL JDM

Yep, I'll have to fabricate them. I can screw up poster paper or board plenty of times. And I have a few friends with skills.

bullitt5897 12-11-2014 10:33 PM

White one is a photoshop I beleive

I thought that was the original Varis design - aka V1, V2 was the widebody design, I could be wrong though.

I think it depends on what else you are going to put on the car. Whether you are going t have any other body components.

Both 1 and 2 look pretty angular to belong on a stock body.

The Daytona one fits the stock body better.

OMGWTFBBQ 12-11-2014 10:59 PM

Another one to check out is the INGS+1 fenders.

http://www.ings-net.com/products/n-s...-n/imgs/hd.png

http://www.myjapandirect.com/media/c...rnt_fender.jpg

The thing to consider, though, is that most fenders are made to compliment the various kits produced by the manufacturers. I personally think most fenders look way better with non-OEM bumpers/body work, but that's just me. It's hard to find vented fenders that are subtle enough to flow into the OEM bumper lines.

cooltoy 12-11-2014 11:05 PM

Kind of what I said (but more eloquent). The ings fenders would look good on a pre 2015 Nismo.

OldFart 12-11-2014 11:06 PM

I knew I seen somewhere where they still used the indicator light... Kinda how #1 is. The car is a Nismo conversion, front fascia and skirts. Kept the stock rear facia but added spats and fujimura diffuser. Also added the VIS CF hood. Lowered on coilovers, M310's, tint. So nothing to the extreme...

What I do like with the INGS vent is they didn't take all the the way to the fender seam. Which I really didn't want to do.

cooltoy 12-11-2014 11:14 PM

With that set up, I like ings+1 or #1. #2 is too rounded.

JC-Nismo 12-11-2014 11:30 PM

The first one is ok, but the rest are a bit much...........keep it stock.

1st 12-11-2014 11:38 PM

Keep it stock I personally don't like vented fenders its a bit much. Fyi your not to old!!

Varis.... I wonder how they would look with an Amuse kit.

Merv 12-15-2014 09:50 AM

Do these vented fenders come with a mesh insert of some sort? I love the look of them, especially the second pic,but I could see a lot of debris coming through that opening, chipping away at the paint!

cooltoy 12-15-2014 10:26 AM

Mesh could be easily added.

OMGWTFBBQ 12-15-2014 01:46 PM

Most, if not all, JDM companies provide some sort of chicken wire that comes with the vented fenders. However, I would highly suggest painting the mesh black, if it already doesn't come black.

RyanWest 12-15-2014 11:46 PM

This is going to destroy the paint! BLAH

They will look great on the car.

Just a lot of vents for my taste, but to each his own! Couldn't resist a little jab :)

Have you installed then yet?

OldFart 12-17-2014 05:21 AM

Found a picture of the second option that shows the whole car. Not liking how they took the crease out of the fender by putting the vent in the side skirt, think it would be much cleaner if it was left in the fender.

:iagree: The body line in the fender should remain.
