Don't do this, do what I said. When the original mirror base is removed, the top lip of the fender under the mirror base, which had been covered by the original base, is exposed. A simple solution is the pre-cut black "decal", one for each side, included with the kit (seen installed under the mirror in the image above). This also allows for simple removal and re-installation of the factory mirror assembly if ever needed.
