Flashing serves my purpose. I have good intentions and that is for people to pay attention, annoying or otherwise.
|
I'm not a big fan of flashing third brake light...anything around eye-level would be super annoying and distracting to others. IMO if you must have blinking then get the fog light.

My only experience with this was an elderly gentleman in a new stingray. His brake lights were the only intermittent lights I encountered, as he seemed un-interesrted in using his turn signals before changing lanes (although I am in FL, and this is an especially big issue among FL drivers...). I propose one thought to reflect upon: If you are a in a cool car AND a safe driver, other cars will either be pleased to be behind you or drive as normal. If drivers strive to NOT be behind you, which is not always easily achieved, it's improbable that they are doing so for a reason other than irritation... Is that the aim of motorists navigating driving public roads: To irritate other drivers so much that they avoid being near you like a plague victim with spurting pustules? :icon14: If the answer is: Whatever it takes to keep people away from me, so I can get from point A to B undisturbed, while I feel your pain, I would caution you that the specific chosen solution may be contributing to the general, and seemingly unavoidable, problem...

?!?! your guys 370z didn't came with this stock??????
mines did. I bought my 2012 370Z brand new in 1st of April. My 3rd brake light flashes 5 times then solid. I have notice I am the only one in my area with this stock. Here is a link to the video that I made awhile back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=KFL8b8Ae3hs ( and FYI I changed the evo-r fog to flash only in reverse. ) lol it looked like a light show with two flashes.. -___- |
I have a correction, I was speaking of the fog light not the 3rd BL. Sorry.
As for the 3rd, if I were to do it, 2 flashes would be my max. |

As I'm fond of saying "If they aren't looking, they won't see you"....doesn't matter if you're the side of a building, a pedestrian, or a car / motorcycle with 1000 flashing lights. They're either putting on makeup, gnawing on a leg bone, or slapping kids, staring at the legs on the sidewalk, picking something up out of floorboard they dropped, looking at what they just pulled out of their nose, or texting, doesn't matter, the end result is they smack your ***.

Or did you buy it used? |
Doubt it came stock, mines a 2014 base sport and it does not flash as far as I am aware.
Back on topic, I am torn as whether do this mod on my third brake light. I already have the time delayed unit which I pulled from another car that was traded in. Its a matter of just pulling out the plastics and tapping the module in for me. However, still undecided. Personally the few cars that I have seen with the flashing third brake,it does make you notice them ever so more than the other third brake lights, so I believe it has safety advantages. |
The pulsing third brake light under the tail is an option offered by nissan starting 2013 meant to deter rear end collisions, I didn't think of it but when I bought the jdm fog light my shop gave me the idea to incorporate the flashing relay for the fog as well and I get nothing but compliments. My brother bought a 2014 and didn't have the pulsing brake light so that's when I found out it's not standard

I could see this being useful if it pulsed for sudden stops (e.g., decelerating 10 mph per sec), but in bumper to bumper traffic, I see this as being as much a potential irritation as a boon.
