Is there a trick to getting the seatbelt extender arm in the up position? I pushed the passenger side arm down to get behind the seat and now it's locked

Seatbelt extender Arm
Is there a trick to getting the seatbelt extender arm in the up position? I pushed the passenger side arm down to get behind the seat and now it's locked in the down position and the seatbelt buckle is banging against the pillar when I'm driving. I don't see any buttons or anything to push and I don't want apply too much pressure for fear of breaking it. The owner's manual is of no help, it just says to pull it up. Help!
