I honestly don't think it would be worth the trouble unless you take out the spare as well. I do belive on my buddies 06 type-s it was very light

I honestly don't think it would be worth the trouble unless you take out the spare as well. I do belive on my buddies 06 type-s it was very light for a subwoofer maybe 10 pounds, but yes I think it can be unplugged.

That sounds like a lot to me. I would only be taking it out if I was spending the day at the track, in which case I would obviously be removing the spare and any jack/tools. So spare + jack/tools + 10lb sub could easily be 40-50lbs of weight saving.
