Bride spelled backwards = rad!

I was very happy to check my email yesterday and find something new and different from our friends at Bride Japan. This one is a little odd, I can honestly not tell you why there is a new brand backwards, and my google translate has failed me on a bunch of levels. What I can gather is this is their premier line with protein leather.

Yet, for some reason I need a pair of Edirb seats on the off chance they go extinct in a hurry. The 33 looks to me a great fit for the Z34 and the half covered backing makes you feel a little better buying something for an application where you would never see the back of the seat. Check em out!

That's the main reason I wouldn't ever get Bride seats again... It got reeeeeally old trying to explain to non-car people that it wasn't pronounced "bride" but in fact more like "burrido" which made them look at me like I was even crazier than when they originally thought it was just "bride." You can only be asked "where is the groom's seat?" so many times before you just want to stab everyone you come across in the neck with a pencil.

PS. What is........ "protein leather".......? I don't know how I feel about that.

Yeah, after a while I resorted to the same thing and just shrugged it off as one of the less weird things to come out of Japan in general when people asked me about my seats.

at first i thought the pictures were flipped...

FairladyZ10PG 02-04-2014 02:12 PM

I first saw the seats on Modified magazine and I didn't even know it was bride backwards. My first thought was it was some kind of cheap knockoff lol.

I've always been told they were pronounced like Brid

kenchan 02-04-2014 02:45 PM

but with a doh at the end. "brid doh"

then it sounds more like buritto.

That's bs. There's clearly an "e" at the end. I always wondered why BMW's where pronounced "douche." Now we know:icon17:

:icon17: like mazda where it's supposed to be pronunced "matsuda." no one in japan (unless a f- case) calls mazda a 'mazda.' :D

vividracing 02-04-2014 04:50 PM

Always heard "Brid" from our Japanese contacts, but I'll sell "Brides" all day without the need to correct anyone about it :)

wstar 02-04-2014 10:59 PM

Eh I just say it as bride. This whole thing reminds me of this woman I know named Margot, who insists her name is pronounced with a hard T at the end, like the word "got". It's french, and the t is supposed to be silent. I don't care how many times she reminds the world how to pronounce her name, she's always wrong, and the T is always silent in my head :P

1slow370 02-05-2014 01:11 AM

I find the name funny, they use an english word for the name, but because japanese can't pronounce the english syllables the pronounce it as brid and then feel the need to correct us on the company name. If they wanted to correct us they should have just used the hiragana bi ri to びりと

But the french and english use the same characters so saying its french and needs to be pronounced differently is acceptable, it's not like they use a different alphabet that doesn't have the ot sound but then spelled it in english as ot and then tried to tell us we're wrong in french you spell it ot and pronounce it oh so in france the name margot is actually margo. when the japanese use the roman characters they have no right to tell us to pronounce it differently, you want us to say birriddo then spell it right in the first place instead of trying not to admit you translated it wrong, or just use your own language and then correct us. Tien pulls the same ****.

Not that i fully got an answer from reading this, but it's my impression that this is a legit company offering of the seats. : See here -

EDIRB - Reviews & Brand Information - BRIDE CO., LTD. , - Serial Number: 79135608

Manufactured and TM'd by Bride on 2/2013. 0_o

vividracing 02-12-2014 11:44 AM

Yes, this is an offering from Bride that went off track in a hurry. No reps here :)

Cvzg77r 04-08-2015 05:21 AM

I should be posting mine on here pretty soon. I've installed the driver seat so far haven't had time to install the passenger seat yet. I bypassed the air bag with the 4.7 ohm resistor which worked no air bag light. I have to take the occupant sensor out of the passenger seat to get it working properly. As soon as I get both in I'll take pics of my 023's and post them on here! Thanks Todd!!

I can just picture someone who isn't in the know seeing those boxes getting delivered and wondering if you just received a mail order bride from Japan...

:rofl2:

They do look like some pretty sweet seats though.
