WC Lathe Werks - Shift Knob

Very nice and solid, Ivo!
I noticed that you have a stainless steel colar (instead of black), did you customize it your self?

Any chance of getting knobs for the AT guys at some point?

Bought my strap wrench today, going to try to install it tonight. Hopefully I'm stronger than kenchan.

Got an email back today asking for info about the knob, but if it's one with a button, it would be probably impossible to make one. :(

Kick that Stock Knob's ***! I finally resorted to giant vise grips, mangled the knob but that b*tch is off there.

Took me about 20 minutes to get it off with a $9 Husky strap wrench from Home Depot. I tried the micro fiber towel over the old knob but the leather on the side peeled off anyway. Eventually I just took the towel off and it took awhile but it spun off with a little bit of effort.

That's really nice. I want one now.

It's hell turn off the original Shift-Knob

Wow, I think that proves a strap wrench is the tool of choice. Odds are you're gonna damage the OEM knob but we're all on here because we like to make changes to our Z's. After driving the car to hockey last night with the new knob I will say it makes a huge difference in shifting. It feels more natural, easy and like others have said you can kind of feel where the knob needs to go, no pun intended.

Wrap the shaft under the boot with a piece of leather and use some vice grips there. I had my wife hold the vice grips while I used the strap wrench on the OEM knob and was lucky enough to have it break free fairly easy. My OEM knob doesn't have a mark on it.

Good Luck! :happydance:

BTW, I tried to run my new knob without loctite for a couple weeks and finely applied the blue demon sauce because it never felt secure without it.

Guess Nissan knows what they are doing...
