I don't feel like it's a full second delay, but the Z is definitely a little slower to start up than some of the other push button cars I've driven, including our Focus ST.

I don't have that problem

People that have the steering lock fuses puked say that there is an extra delay, but since you have a '14, you don't have that problem

sometimes mine keeps thinking for a second. i have my fuse pulled.

What is this "thut thut thut" sound? I have a '13 6 speed. Clutch buried, quick press and release, fires up. No other sound than an engine turning over.

I think the "thut thut " is suppose to be the sound of the engine cranking. I don't think everyone is on the same page. Some are talking about how long the starter cranks before the engine fires up, and others are talking about how long it takes the starter to start cranking after pressing the start button.

Any luck?

Yup, now I just tap it and it seems to start faster. Maybe if I hold the button down the car questions what I am doing, haha.

Serious first world problems going on in this thread. :D Seriously though...it does start slower than some cars but is much faster if you just hold down the clutch and quickly press once and let go.

To be honest I think it's more of a Nissan thing. My mother's Altima had the Intelli-key, and her's took a sec before it would start cranking as well. I've had a few Chrysler rental cars with the push button that would start cranking as soon as you hit the button.

It does seem to start faster if you just push the button and release instead of holding it down. My issue is finding the one spot on the clutch that actually trips the sensor for starting. I'll get in, hold the clutch down, and hit the button, only to realize that it isn't down far enough. :(
