Had 370Z Sunroof Installed

Noone give me any grief about cutting a Nismo, but I'm talking to an installer in my area now to get the same thing done, I'm the same color too.

However, if Porsche offers sunroof options on their $100,000 Carrera I think it is fine for the 370Z.

To answer some anticipated questions.
1) I watched them remove the section of roof and their are no structural components in the section they take out. There is a small aluminum roof stiffener that is no longer needed with the sunroof.

2) You are adding about a total of 20-25 lbs when the job is completed. It will be less if you go with the medium 321. Frankly, I was surprised that the larger sunroof fit but I think it looks great.

3) Webasto manufactures 50% of the worlds factory sunroofs so they seem to know what they are doing.

4) With the sunroof closed, the car is just as quiet as it was before. In fact,
when the shade is pulled you just forget that it is there. Have experineced no rattles at all.

5) Controls are great. You can preset two positions (and has other buttons to open it as little as you want) - I have them set for vent and full open and when you turn off the ignition the roof automatically closes.

6) The rollo shade works fine and is the same color as the interior.
You know where I can get one installed in the Maryland area?

i like the sunroof but the Z wasnt mean to have one. theres a reason it wasnt an option. this car was put in a wind tunnel the shaved and then tested again. if you look the roof lines follow the hoods. but hey atleast you can see the sky while your not racing your car.

thanks for posting it up man! Don't mind what others saying it look like crap. I personally think it's kinda sad how Nissan didn't give that as an option. I rarely use the sunroof, but every car I've own had one, and it's nice to know it's there. It does look very clean! Good job. I do notice that car originally had 2 contours that runs along the room, I didn't think that blended with the sunroof very well, but then again, i think it's the best anyone could have done with the fact that this car doesn't come with a sunroof. Good job!

THANK YOU! My lease on my 08 G35S sedan is up and i was originally going to go new Z Roadster. But just couldn't see myself longer term with a drop top. So then I was back and forth between Z coupe and G37S. Wanted the Z for the smaller size...but no sunroof.

Two dealers said different things...yes and no.

Now i know yes and have seen it installed so will definately be going with the Z.

So...thanks!!!

I think the Z with a targa top like the Mighty Supra would be sick. That would be a scary feat though. Dont think I could go through with it unless someone made a good kit, and many people installed with no probs. But I but only know with out even seeing it that targa would be straight re-diculous! Photo-Chop anyone!?!

I think the Z is not made for sunroof. Nissan should come back with the TT tops on the Z.

Have been asked to update my opinion of the sunroof after about 8 months of use. Still love it and have had absolutely no problems - no leaks (and we had a lot of rain this winter in WA State) and no mechanical problems. Would do it again without hesitation.
Webesto makes many of the oem sunroofs so I expect it to function properly and it does have a lifetime warranty.

my brother had this same type installed on his car. The bad news after a year it leaked. The cloth sunshade is deteriorating and the controls are shorting out. It looks good though.

I always like having a sunroof. Liked how the 300zx had a T-top. Your custom sunroof looks good and it's good that it doesn't interfere with the rear hatch. So what happened to the double bumps on the roof? Was that section cut out or did they have to "hammer" things flat to make the sunroof sit flush?

A quality sunroof install can beleakfree and operate as good as an OEM one. I had a Hollandia roof installed on my 1997 Pathfinder XE and it worked perfectly.
