Well, if you make one before I pick my car up again, I like #9 ;)
Feel free to test fit it and leave it on. |
Everyone will always choose the TK knob, but unless you're making and selling them for sub $90, or much heavier, someone already makes a knock off.
Also, get GTM off your name if you want is to take you mildly serious |

Because none of the finishes are nailed down yet the price also hasn't been. Please remember this is in the very early stages. Some more info for you though would be that the material I have spec'd for this job is VERY high quality and my CAD software tells me knob 9 is going to weigh somewhere over 530gm. Knob 9 was also completely drawn from scratch to a style I like so some differences between it and the TK knob I can point out from looking at it(I don't have a TK knob to look at so I can't tell you exactly) would be that to make it more comfortable I smoothed the transition from the ball area to the finger hold by filleting it, also it looks like the TK knob is too small for the top of the shift boot whereas this knob will blend to the diameter of the top of the boot nicely. I'm trying to update the poll with the new options if any body has any more requests feel free to tell me.

these are all copycats, no?
|
the styles and shapes look similar but how is someone supposed to "copycat" a ball on a stick or a cylinder. Number 9 is similar but if it isn't $250 I'll take one in satin gold.

A leather-wrapped option would get my money. I don't do metal shift knobs after I burned a H-pattern into my palm one hot summer day.
|
Yeah about that I have been thinking of shipping each knob with a velvet bag to put over it in summer, I would have to look into getting it wrapped, but it may be doable.
|
The burnt titanium finish will not be available as it cannot be done with the alloy I am using.

#9 looks good. Keep doing what you are doing Matt. It's a shift nob, it's been done before guys. Not a lot of room for something "ground braking" when it comes to a shift nob. Pretty awesome that you are taking your free time and making something you like, for your Z. Hopefully it gives us all an option for a nice shift nob, that has great weight to it at a decent price. Kudos to you.
#9 in Black. I'll be down for one. |
I would really like an OEM type knob, with leather around the sides, but on top metal circle with the gears engraved in an aluminum brushed finished to match the interior parts. I'll photoshop something later.
