Track car design?? Camo?
My cars silver, boo :shakes head:, I wanted white. Not really many silver track cars I've seen. Not a fan of really any colors that go with silver like red or black. It pops to much for some reason in my mind. My last WRX was white, and black items just seemed to go better with it even though white is further from black than silver is. The only thing I kinda like is camo. Seems to be pretty popular too if you google camo cars. What's everyone think? Any silver base cars you have seen and like?
I also like camo because its something I can do on my own. A wrap gets pretty expensive so I was thinking have tons a vinyl stickers cut and I'd just place them around the car with my silver being the background. The evo would look most like it. Also I have to start protecting my paint!! The chips will get worse over time and a lot of vinyl stickers will protect it. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps1056beec.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps5fad9faf.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps8a46e4ed.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps02e928f0.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps9b101d1f.jpg |
What are we in a war zone?

I always get frowned at for sayin' this, but for $300, you can dip your car camo and leave the silver base coat. It'll protect your paint and you can peel when your over it and want to change it up. I assume itll be cheaper then buying vinyl and hand cutting each camo spot.
You can do black, gunmetal, and maybe another type of grey or dark color to camo it with. Good Luck |
I honestly like digital camo a lot better than regular camo.. but that's just me.

I really like the look of camo racecars when I see them, but then I always also think it's kind of weird. I mean, the point of camo is to disrupt visual cues and make it harder to notice an object or notice exactly what it is. Sounds like exactly the opposite of the effect you want on the other track drivers (them not seeing you).

if you want to be different and seen, just put a huge pink hello kitty decal on there.

I know its not silver, but I think this guy pulled it off pretty well IMO.
http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6077/6...4ff3f9d0_z.jpg It also looks real nice in person too! Just swap the silver parts with white and you should be golden, if that's the look your going for. |
pics of car right now?

synolimit, if you are using plastic-dip. You don't have to masked off for the pattern. Only the glass and tires need it. I would use dark grays, black, and white over the base silver. Urban camo pattern. You could do the rims too.

I like the digital snow print as well, but that beamer pulled that off pretty clean, with the brown/bronze. You could just get a wrap, but have a camo print, printed, will cost $$$ though.

I'm gonna come out and say it...
Camo with matte white and black will look retarded on a GLOSSY silver base Just my opinion brother, do what you wanna do, I suggest plastidip in layers though. I think it will be easier all said and done |

Well I think gloss vinyl won't be an improvement, it will be all gloss, yes, but I think gloss camo might be weird, no? Then again, I've never seen it, so you'll be the first |

Lol what are you smoking? Its nothing to me or anyone else that's modding their car! if I'm buying $800 camber arms, $1700 wing, $2000 coilovers, others buy $10,000 TT kits, what in the hell is $117?! I'm doing all the work. I cut, over lay the spots and cut again so it's not just building up on each other and $117 in vinyl. Period. Lol test pipes aren't going big. Their raspy *** $100 peices of pipes. I have long tube headers  |
I would worry more about actually getting on the track first... just sayin

If you're going to the track, I wouldn't paint your car grey/black. Paint it something that is easy to see for the other cars.

My worry about sticker type camo would be the long term affect on the paint.
If you leave it on there for a while and the base silver fades over time, then want to take it off, it could leave bright shiny silver where it was covered before. Same worry with stripes and plastidip parts. It may be removable, but will the paint difference be noticeable after its removed? I think the major factors here would be how long your car would spend in the sun, rain, winter mess and how long you plan on keeping the pattern or the car in general. |
:iagree: very true
