Problem with the passenger airbag indicator.
I think this is the most appropreite location for this question.
I just noticed that when I put something or someone sits in the passenger seat the light indicates passenger airbag off. But when there is nothing in the passenger seat the light turns off, indicating that the passenger airbag is active. What could be the cause of this? |
that indicator is pretty confusing. because if the weight of the person is too little, the airbag is programmed not to depoly.
i forget if the light was on or off in my car while driving solo. |
When driving the vehicle solo, the passenger airbag indicator should not be lit. I think the maximum threshold for the passenger seat sensor to trip is approximately 60 lb. If you have an average sized adult in the seat and it still indicates that the airbag is off, you likely have a problem with the SRS system.

Ok, it is off when solo. But it is lit when there is someone in it, lit as in saying it is off. I guess I'll have to go to the dealer to get it sorted.

My fiancee weighs 95lbs, 90% of the time the light is on, in both my '09 and '13.

It does it in my family's '12 MDX too. She always wears her seat belt at my behest at least.

happens when i set my computer bag in the seat, doesn't register as being over a certain weight and the light comes on. just shows it is working properly. always on when someone is sitting there is a problem.

Did you replace your aftermarket HU? I did not follow the instructions to disconnect a wire right under the shiftboot and it tampers with your airbags. I noticed that my airbag light is doing the same thing as OPs and have tried doing the reset trick which hasnt worked for me.
Basically what happens is like what everyone is detailing: -Light on for about 10 seconds then goes away (unless someone is sitting/put weighted object on seat in which it says the airbag is off) I took the car to the dealership to get it checked and they "ran codes and checked but coudln't find anything wrong". |

I had it before my old HU install
