I think the red looks pretty sharp  I'm looking at using their Smoke Metalcast on my front tower strut brace.

Well done!

Blue maybe? I'm getting the Invidia exhaust with rolled titanium tips in August, so the blue with the blue tips might be cool. I haven't seen any clowns with a blue nose (in person).

Haha yea the blue may work better. Have you thought about doing only the red or blue on the rear and do black or black chrome on the front? Especially if you are going to black out your headlights. That may turn out perfect.

Aww we just hit jackpot. I'll black out the chrome, chrome then blue Metalcast the shrouds. Then the blue hamburger will just sit nice I think.

Testing phase complete

Well, I've taken some candle holders we've had in a bathroom for the last 5 years and used them for testing. Both came out exactly as I had hoped. I believe I will go with the red first. Then, later this year, when I drop the Invidia exhaust on with the rolled titanium tips, I might swap to the blue to match. (Or keep it red)

Criticisms and opinions very welcome. Ref:

I apologize about the crappy iPhone pics in advance.

Before - cleaned up and polished the holders:

Then I washed with a bit of acid, then wiped lightly paint thinner/water (20%/80%) and began spraying:

Then I stood them up to one another. Damn it! I didn't spray heavy enough to gloss it!:

Time to break out the polish and buff for 15 minutes. Getting there:

Not too shabby!! Time to do the other in blue, spaying a little heavier to reduce polish time. Wax and shine:

Please let me know what you think!

A friend of mine did this and it looked really good but it started to fade after a few weeks. Don't know if it was cause of the sun or the heat.

That's good to know. Now I will change up my process.
Stages of painting:
1.prep surface
2.clear primer
3.spray
4.clear UV coating

The process will hopefully help prevent chipping and fading.
