storage compartment in dash
How did the fellow Z owners who didnt buy the NAV package, put the that silly storage compartment in the dash into good use?
I use it for storage :bowrofl:
I've seen a GPS in there, but that's about it for creativeness at this point. |
So far I have found nothing I want to put in there.
I have started to take the contents of my pockets and put it in the center console, everything else is either to big or sits in the seat next to me. Edit: I always have people ask what is in it or try to open it and fail. It does seem to be difficult to open for people oddly. |
I stash my weed in there.
j/k... I leave my ipod in there when not in use... but yeah their is not much space. |
I stuff my charge cords and Nav bracket in there..
I keep two pairs of sunglasses in there. Pretty handy.
I keep my SIRIUS channel guide and keys in there. Also my USB port is in there as well.
My car monkey sleeps in there
Since I cant get my Homelink to synch with my garage door i put the old opener there.
Thats where I keep my Rayban's. Aside from that I don't keep anything else in the car so my center console is empty as is the glove box.
I break my CDs in half, so they fit in there......
What are these things you call "CD's"?
:rofl2: |
Compact Discs (CDs) .....

Is there a way to take off the storage lid completely and possibly use it as a place to put say a Garmin GPS or Archos in there

I use it for my sun glasses and storing those punch cards for restaurants... eventually i might get something free :ugh2:
I keep my Craftsman toolbox in there.:icon18:
iTouch / chords / wallet now and then :)
Prescription sunglasses are the only thing I can think of to put in there.
Since Oklahoma has so many turnpikes, a pike pass could fit in there so it's not being advertised to would-be-thieves. |
Sunglasses + Garage Door Opener
i stuff my change coins in there
Good place for your walther 380 auto :shakes head:
my wallet, cellphone because of the car bluetooth, cigarettes.
I'm proud to say I have NOTHING in there. You should see my Jeep though :/
My baby Glock.
FWIW, the center console lower area pulls out easily - where the 2nd "cup holder" is...
Mounted a Garmin 255W inside and wired 12vdc to it. Works out well and is kinda neat that you can just close the door and hide it. Even though I bought a touring, I purposely didn't get it with the nav package. Now that I'm older and don't total 'em every few years anymore, I keep cars for a long time. Electronics become obsolete in just a few years. The Z replaced a 21-year-old RX-7 (with a cassette deck!).
I store my gloves for when I hit the gym. I'm still puzzled to why our glove box is so inadequate.
So your glove box is too small to store your gloves. That, sir, is ironic.
does anybody have the maximum dimension that can be placed on the cubby... I was wondering if the pioneer f90bt or the eclipse avn726e can fit when the whole area is hallowed out... kind of like the amplified 370z audio build but instead of putting just a monitor, place an in-dash navigation system instead...
I think the front is big enough, but as you go backwards (away from the driver seat towards the front of the car) the area gets smaller. Beyond that of what can fit an in-dash nav unit.

I use it for my wallet and sunglasses :p

Spare condoms.
Sunglasses and lotto tickets haha
Holy necrobump, Batman!
:icon18:
But ill bite... Sunglasses! |
I cut a hole in the back of mine. Shaped it just right. My S&W M&P 40 fits perfect. The barrel goes through the hole. All I got to do is open the cubbie door, and wrap my hand around the grip. And then I'm ready. :D Also keep a spare clip in there too. :D
