Key Fob question

Hi, I received a 4 button fob with the car and it does start the car. I bought an oem fob online and went to Nissan to have it programmed.

I bought an oem fob online and went to Nissan to have it programmed. They said the procedure was to deactivate the working key and then they could reprogram both. Well, now they can't get either key to program so my car is dead in the water at the dealership. They are ordering me a new fob for $200+. Has anybody experienced similar or have a clue what could have gone wrong? Thanks
