I'm a little confused at what the big deal is.. Has anyone got an experience to share that says that a faux seat that is considerably cheaper than the genuine article is actually a worse seat to use in DD and light track days?

For some the whole point of the seat isn't the brand or the material.. It's the design that provides better lateral G support.

The OE seats suck on the 370z and I say that as a previous EVO X owner who has been completely pampered by the OE Recaros I had.

Please link me to videos or studies that say the fakes being sold as Bride are actually bad.

It is not the fact that there is proof they are bad, it is there is proof the Bride are good and follow strict standards to meet safety standards that are required.

I think everyone here is missing the point of I'm trying to make...

Does every driver require all the safety specifications required by race circuits for an accident that could occur on a street/highway? No.

Does every driver require materials like kevlar or carbon fiber or aluminum brackets?? No.

All I'm lookin at is a good solution to a common issue I feel will happen for any 370z owner. Barely any lateral G support because of the way the sport seat isn't really in the shape of a racing bucket. I don't need to spend $1500/seat to get the same concepts in a faux seat. I could spend $900 for 2 seats and get the same level of lateral support because the design concept is the same...

the common consumer does not need a big name brand seat, fine. some drivers, however, need that FIA-approval, hence they go for the legitimate one. with that said, i don't like the idea of buying 'fake' products, especially if it rips wholesale and makes a profit off of someone elses' work, like the fake BRIDEs are clearly doing (matching everything including logo, gradation, etc)

ibtl / this thread turning into a 'lulz knockoff parts' thread again

I know Dreamer is highly considering these!!! :rofl2:

kenchan 08-02-2010 05:17 PM

get the corbeau's or watever they're called. they're cheap and they are not faux. they take pride in cheap. :D

I would love for someone to provide a direct safety comparison between all the iterations of the Bride name.

If it's such a liability, then shouldn't there be something out there?

From what I have seen is the designs and name were jacked when Bride of Japan forgot to renew the brand. With that said, what base is there to not getting these besides those pesky sweatshop practices...

There's not going to be a direct comparison because you don't know who's making anything except the real ones. You may order 2 fake bride seats from a vendor and have the two look and feel totally different because one is made in taiwan and the other in mexico. Just like ordering fake Louis Vuitton handbags: some are $50, cheap and obviously an imposter while others are $150 and hard to tell from the original.

There's also patent violations involved so most people won't make comparisons for fear of being sued. Imaginge Consumer Reports saying fake Blueray's from China are just as good as one's released from Paramount or Sony. There would be a sh1t storm going on in their legal department.

you guys do realize part owner of Bride seats left Japan and took rights of the company to Taiwan. Hints why bride in japan is now labeling there seats "Bride Japan".
Bride seats made in Taiwan carry the same specs and overall quality. Bride seats in Taiwan are pretty legit IMO

I would really like to see some proof on this, as I was aware the Taiwan company was created through a loophole with name registration/rights and just bought a few Bride seats and start manufacturing them. Also using lower quality metals and parts.
