Default Battery Gauge

I haven't closely watched my gauges very carefully over the past three years, but my warranty is moving toward expiration and want to be sure to discover any problem before warranty expiration.
My '09 Z will turn three at the end of November and nothing has gone wrong, although I only have 10,000 miles on the non-DD car.
But I'm watching my battery charge gauge and see that it hardly ever moves. It's not stuck, as it moves a bit behind, over and past the 14 on the dial. Is this normal?
I only drive the car on nice days in the summer and 3300 mi./yr I plan to keep it in the family for the rest of my life and after. I want to keep it perfect and have this gauge replaced if it's slow or non-functional.

mine is usually around 14 - 14.4 when running around town or highway. never gave it much though. it does work as i have a radar detector that also displays the voltage and they are pretty much exact.

With the engine running, your alternator should provide about 14 Volts. With all accessories powered up, but engine off, on full charge you should be at 12.

Yep. Check it with engine off. Have a battery test run on it to see how much life it has in it.

14 is right. I run a Odyssey battery (16lbs) and it also is at 14 even with it relocated in the rear of the car.
