I think the hood is pretty light to begin with, no?
As was the case with my EVO IX, the carbon fiber hood was just as heavy as the stock aluminum one. I think an official "weight comparo" needs to be done here to justify the $$. Unless of course you just like the look of CF, then that's different. I like CF just as much as the next guy but I'm more interested in weight savings and could care less about having CF on my car just for looks. JMHO. |
Again. We will be weight the pieces after they are made lol.
|
Don't forget to weigh the pieces. Please put a note on the parts to remind you. :D

i'm just saying if someoen made a real cf roof, it would be the f-ing s.

Update?
|
Well we have had the power to make carbon fiber hoods for the past two months but nobody has wanted one. Mainly for the reason we haven’t had the funds to produce one and sell it after.
The rear hatch we still need somebody with a 370Z to stop by so that we can make the mold of the frame (which would take a few days). Lastly, we are working on that vented hood prototype (we posted a thread in this forum area). :) |
How would a CF Hatch work - I mean, would it be just the exterior, or have the interior parts as part of the whole product?
Same question relating to the back window - how well will it hold up, not leak, etc? Glass or Plexi/Lexan? What about the struts, won't they be WAY STRONG with a hatch that weighs half as much? What about the rear spoiler on the sport models? 3rd brake light? Just curious how all that plays together.... |
