Thanks for dedication jpritche! Keep us posted sir. :tiphat:

First impressions: This was definitely my first time at the rodeo! The GTMat was incredibly easy to handle and adhered flawlessly.

Awesome to see GTMat on a Z! Looking forward to your results Huckleberry.

Would anyone be interested in having their car featured on our promotional flyer? Preferably a full shot showing an install if possible?

I wouldn't have a problem with that, except that I haven't done the install yet. If all you need is a photo of a hatch install, I guess you don't need local. I'm sure there's someone out there willing.

That's what I'm hoping for. I wish I had some way of measuring the sound levels. Anyone know of an iPhone App that works?

We'd like a photo showing most of the car with some install showing, but knowing the Z, that is a hard shot to even get. Any creative shots would be appreciated. :)

To get to the rear fenderwell, you need to take all the panels out of the trunk and then take off the panels behind the seats too....then you can add the sound deading material to the rear fenderwell on both sides. They are super easy to remove. The poster in here only added the material to the floor of the trunk. You need to do the whole thing....bottom and sides with fenderwells.

i only got the free 10 sq ft so thats not an option. i guess i'll see what i can get to tomorrow

jpritche 08-17-2012 02:08 PM

Update: I installed roughly 30-40 sq ft. Today in the doors and in the back. First impression is wow. It has made a huge improvement so far. I will have more gopro videos later with decibel readings. The smell is basically non-existent. I was installing outside and never really smelled anything.

I would highly recommend this to anyone. It's a cheaper option than some of the other brands, but works EXCELLENT.

I will be installing more under the carpet underneath the seats next week.

Alright, I'm typing this on the computer, and then I'll add the pics from my phone. I suck at reviews, but I'll give it my best shot.

Customer Service:
The man I spoke to on the phone was very courteous and friendly. I asked him a few questions and he explained the answers in detail for me. I have nothing bad to say about this :)

Shipping:
It shipped the same day I called them, and arrived 3 days later. Everything was packed well, and the box included the GTmat, instructions with pictures, 2 GTmat stickers, and even a little roller. I thought the roller was a nice touch, and it made the job a lot easier than smoothing it all with your hands. I would have gotten tired of that pretty quickly. There was also a coupon in the box, if you like the product and you want to get some more then you can save $10 (I think that's what it was). Very pleased so far :)

Quality / Install:
I have to admit that I haven't had much experience with sound deadening material before, so I'm kind of a noob with this. But this stuff looks to be pretty good quality. It's got a little weight to it, but not too heavy. The adhesive side stuck well to the truck of the car and once on there was actually difficult to pull back off. It was my first time installing this kind of stuff so I honestly don't know if I did a good job, but I gave it my best. Feel free to critique my pics. The install seemed pretty straight forward, the stuff was pretty pliable and wasn't a PITA at all. I also heard people asking if there was a smell to it. This may sound stupid but I actually stuck it to my nose and didn't smell anything. Then, the next morning after the install I went back into my car and did a smell test. Nothing. I asked my wife to check it out. Nothing. Happy about this as well

Result:
Just with the 10sqft I can there's a noticeable difference. My exhaust is a little quieter, and the road noise is a little bit lower. I would think that if you got enough of the 80mil to do the whole trunk and the doors (50sqft?) sound would be reduced dramatically. I have also noticed slightly better bass response from my 12" Zenclosure in the back. I took a db measurment before I did this, but I haven't gotten to take one after so I don't know how the numbers have been affected. I'll probably be able to do that this sunday, then I'll post it up.

All in all for the money I believe this is a great product and a great value, and as soon as I get my components I'm going to be giving these guys a call back for some more of the 80mil. Thanks GTmat!

EDIT: on my phone now, here's the pics I took with my iPhone :)

only thing i didn't hit was right above the wheels. Otherwise, i completed the majority of my trunk.
