Oracle LED kit? Thoughts? anybody use it?

Hi all, Ive been diligently studying some of the headlight mods on the forums and am really anxious to do mine. Ive talked with a few members and have heard nothing about this one particular kit....

Nissan 370Z ORACLE Headlight Halo Kit

this looks like the route im gonna go, just for the simplicity of it all..... Have any of ya used this set up? ANy thoughts on the equipment/company?

Beautiful...

...but the difficulty to installing them prevents me from doing this mod--as much as I would like to. What are your plans for installation?

ericzmyers 07-14-2012 08:10 PM

it seems pretty simple, Nut_N_Much built an amazing thread.

http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...-led-halo.html

so I'm planning to follow most of his steps and ideas.

the plan is

pull the lights
warm em up and open them
Flat black the housing, maybe a little CF and line work.
Leave the shrouds stock
install the halo and demon eye kit.
test em
reseal
reinstall
run a power control switch back to the blank on the center console right behind the shifter.

that what i got so far....... Ill probably order the parts this week. ill document on this thread.

ericzmyers 07-14-2012 08:11 PM

it also looks like the kit comes with a vehicle specific install video.......

gy954 07-14-2012 08:27 PM

I looked at the DIYs and got worried about cracking the lights when trying to open them up. Seems like some of the guys (or gals) had that problem. I put DRLs on my Z, so I have had the front bumper off. I am very much looking forward to hearing how your build goes. Maybe you'll inspire me, because I sure do like that look. Good Luck!!!

HerOuji 07-14-2012 09:09 PM

I using them ATM. The kit is nice and easy to install and I also bought the remote from AAC which is a 4ch remote control so I can switch on either land strip LED or LED halo ring. You also can choose a 6k or 8k LED depends how bright you want. Mine is 6k. But warning for you they don't provide the halo ring cover which you have to buy them separately from eBay.
Good luck on opening up your headlight if you planning to do it. It is easy to do just need more patient.

wow good call on the ring cover, would have never known! thanks for the heads up! Any chance you could post a link of the required part?

what did you purchase to do your landing strip?

bdavis89 07-14-2012 09:18 PM

sub'd. The more people I see doing this the more I think I can do it!! It just scares the crap out of me :ughdance:

HerOuji 07-14-2012 09:24 PM

I ordered a 90mm/3.5" halo ring cover from eBay but haven't install it planning to install it next week if I got the time and also adding the demon eye. For the landing strip I'm using piranha LED Which have 4 pin instead of 2. Hope this help.

Sorry bro I can't find the link or u can try to pm this user hi-etech from eBay I bought from them the ring cover. For the piranha LED is a 5mm size if you planning to do the landing strip try to get the brighter piranha LED so can match with the halo ring.

Agree.... I just want to black out my housing and dual halo orbs. So scared...

HerOuji 07-16-2012 08:08 AM

Do not order the 90mm ring cover it doesn't fit on oracle kit.

Pulling the lights apart was scary. The hole time I was worried about braking the plastic. The light housing has plastic tabs along the sides once to get those unclipped just peal them back. Takes a lot of strength to pull apart, if it cools off in the middle of it put it back in the box and heat it up again. After the first one you see how strong the lights are just don't use screw drivers or tools to pry with that will warp or brake the plastic.

Thank you for the props, subscribed. Can't wait to see how it all comes together.. :happydance: Its gona look bada_s brother.

ericzmyers 08-18-2012 02:28 PM

So I've been out of the loop for a min.

i did however complete a total sound deadening project. GTMAT.com is the ****!

I ordered the light mod (370 Specific) and a (backlight) amber switch from AAC.com.

Initial impression of this company is NOT so good.

upon completion of my order i received a email from a company rep. they stated they needed:
1. Credit card authorization form
2. a scanned copy of my ID
3. a scanned copy of my card

I said- i will NOT send you any of that, you can process my order or i will shop else where.

I still need to contact the company and make sure they are aware of the email.

After all that he company double charged me. i have two pending charges for $199

Parts are scheduled to be delivered on thursday and i will start the mod on saturday.

Mod plan
1. get at the lights (drop the front facia)
2. pull the lights.
3. open the lights
4. separate the components
5. black out the housings
6. paint the lens housings red
- gonna also pull the engine bar and paint that red (ZR1 hose kit, Red coming soon and red effects LEDs)

Ill post pics and thoughts as i do it.

I just bought the LED halo kit from the link posted on the opening page. No issues and package got here in a timely manner. Although, i did have a question. It lists several things like balasts and the like, but all that came were the 2 rings. Thats it. The package it came in said the shipping weight was only one pound and indeed the package was just a single pound. Still seemed kind of odd.

I assume you just run the power wires to a 12v, then put a switch in between.

How many wires are coming off the Halo's?

can you upload a picture?

instructions are kind of vehicle specific. With these listed as 370z/350z instructions. Also, they are emailed in a pdf form, not actual hard copy. Its just red and black wires and the rings. Typical stuff, I'll probably just splice them into the parking lights though, just for ease of use and the ability to control the brightness of the gauges (so I can have my park lights on and still see my gauges during the day). All in all, probably not worth 170 bucks, so you might wanna check the other thread and see how much the rings cost separately from lightwurks, cause this comes with nothing but the rings. I attached 2 pdfs, but the 350z-370z instructions are too large to attach. Also added a pic of the rings that it came with.

Nut_N_Much 08-19-2012 09:16 PM

LightWurkz charged me $140.00 for the set and $25.00 more for the smaller second set. They came wired up to a control box that pluged into a ground and 12v source.

There rings are 1/4 thick, yours looks thinner and would sit deeper into the shroud for a clean look.

Vichtz 08-19-2012 10:39 PM

yea they seem well made, but i figured there would be more to it

ericzmyers 08-20-2012 05:44 PM

hmmmm, we shall see. Mine are on track for thursday delivery.

AND NOW THE COMPANY HAS TRIPLE CHARGED MY ACCOUNT! Three charges for $190, not to happy about that.

i will begin the install on saturday morning. Gonna read back through Nut_N_Much thread and get the product list from his stuff.

On the fence about the shroud paint.......

Nut_N_Much 08-20-2012 08:01 PM

:wtf:

Man I'm sorry to here that. I would loose my mind:eek:. I hope you get your money back. I was curious about there halo's, man that sucks..

Vichtz 08-20-2012 10:10 PM

Ugh that sucks. I had that happen to me but I was reimbursed so you should be just fine. I've been all over trying to find an oven big enough to fit my headlights haha, but its really a challenge. As soon as I find one, I'll film and put up a DIY video on opening these bad boys. Ive done boiling before too to open headlights so I might try that, but finding a pot big enough is a serious challenge too (and I have a huge one for shrimp boils :D) At any rate, I will video the entire process once I get the chance to do it. Maybe I'll try the cardboard box idea hahaha but gotta find a heat gun...

Check out Nut_N_Much thread, he built a sweet *** oven out of a cardboard box and a heat gun.

Vichtz 08-20-2012 10:21 PM

yea thats what I was talkin about at the end there, but I have no heat gun. How much do they run, I always have a need for more tools, so I might as well get one

chknhawk 08-20-2012 11:08 PM

Fast intentions CatBack- K&N shortram CAI already installed, Sound deadened, Infinity speaker upgrades, Pioneer AVIC 980bt double din in the dash

im starting on the ascetics now (lights, footwell LEDs, GTR Start button Z1 hose kits next on my list)...........Till my maint. plan runs out, then the real work begins ;):happydance:

Vichtz 08-20-2012 11:43 PM

I have the CAI, exhaust and just picked my Z from gettin sprayed today (stillen front fascia :D), so halos and blacked out lights are goin next :) but indeed short shifter is next. Yes, I actually used to customize Xbox 360s on the side to help pay for car stuff, that was one of my more radical designs(but old, designs are much better now. link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjCAkEVuPpk), but it turned out great. Still do designs every now and then to make some quick cash, if I have to do another A&M Xbox though I'm going to puke hahahaha...

UPDATE,

i received my shipment from AAC.COM today.

My bank issue has been resolved, a little attitude from the girl in customer service when i called but, its all good now.

Here is what we got:

2 ballasts
2 connectors and heat-shrink tubes
2 halos

everything looks pretty simple like plug and play. We shall see.

I am a little concerned Vitchs, your kit looks to be nothing like what i received....... you may want to give them a buzz!

the work starts saturday!
