Carbon fiber stuff
Hello everybody! Since the rules do not allow me to post anything to lead anybody to our business we wont post the business name or any info that can lead to sales (Keep in mind we don't even make any parts yet for the 370Z so I hope this is a legal thread) All I know is that the rules did not specify weather we can or can not test the water.
We went to a Nissan dealer today to do a little research on the 370Z and we had a good amount of ideas. What would you guys think of the following in carbon fiber? +Fuel doors +Fender replacements (full carbon fiber or 1 layer carbon fiber for appearal) +Hood +door sill pillar overlays / rear window overlays (IMO it would look sharp) +side mirror skulls (direct replacements) +Carbon fiber roof or roof overlay (overlays on the roof is muuuch safer) +Rear lisence plate cubby overlay +Rear carbon fiber cutout over the tail pipes (Where some apply black vinyl to) Those are just a few ideas so far. If I need to become a vendor in order to do this then I will but Id like to see what a few people have to say here before we become a vendor. We are new to these forums and we plan to be as active as anybody else, get to know some of you (especially local members) and we don't expect to join as vendors and start selling right off the bat. We first plan to gain your respect and trust :) Reputation before sales is what we always say. :tiphat: PICS BELOW TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA! These are the CF overlays I mentioned earlier but we were thinking of also making them for the rear windows since they are so small. http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...llar-cover.jpg And here are the fenders. I couldn't find any 350zs or 370zs with carbon fiber fuel doors. CF side mirrors and hoods, I assume most of you know what they look like. :icon14: http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...er-fenders.jpg P.S And yes before we even begin to advertise anything, we will show our work. |
dont forget the roof and rear hatch in cf
def interested!!! |
that sounds pretty cool, do you have any other forums you go onto...so we can read what people think of ur work so far.
that's a must because some CF makers produce crap, i dont mean you, but some do...lol |
Right now we are vendors on no other forums. But like I said I don't expect anything from any member until we prove ourselves. We would love to have a or several local members come by to check out our stuff and hopefully they would be able to vouch for us :) Also if/when we become sponsors/vendors we will post pictures of us working and finished products. I understand how some may be skeptical since we have nothing to show for as of now, but its because 1. we're new, 2. we cant post our stuff yet, 3. we don't make 370z parts yet :P
|
let me know if you need parts and I will send you some in exchange for product ;)
|
thats still cool......hope to see some CF action here....lol
i only mention this because of what Mastergrade does and did ever heard of them?? |
lovin' the b-pillar overlays.
|
Mastergrade? No need to explain here so we can stay on topic, and I dont want others to be reminded of them and then judge us. BUt I will do my research, see what they did, why, how and then make sure we dont follow those steps :)
|
thanks, no one needs to know the stuff they caused and cause to customers....it's a matter of if you buy from them, you deserve to be ripped off now.....just wait til they come onto this forum....i'll be ready....ha
PM me if you want some links |
Overlay for the area at the rear over the tailpipes............ that carved out area.
John |
The area that some are wrapping in black vinyl? I thought about that and overlays that go in the rear license plate cubby.

a good CF maker this time made a rear diffuser that fits right on top of the rear valence, the carved out part on the rear bumper.
|
What about CF overlay for the front where the fangs are. I think it would look good front and back CF touches.
|
I have said this before of other CF producers:
1. A nice CF lip that mimics the Mine's lip, but minus the upper 'wings'. 2. A replica of the stock spoiler and the Mine's rear spoiler together in one piece. |
So far this is what I have from those who I can see are seriously interested in having these parts made. I am pretty sure tomorrow I will roll the dice and work out what needs to be worked out to become a vendor / sponsor because I really like the idea of starting out with a carbon fiber roof overlay. Still keep in mind nothing is happening until we become a vendor / sponsor

Hey, I am serious about the rear area around the tailpipes. I will buy a quality piece for this area. I think others would as well.
John |
And I am serious about post 15! Can you do it in dry carbon? I will go to the best quality vendor who actually produces it....
|
yup, he'll be up and running tomorrow
|
Right!
|
If you guys are serious then that is great! Later today I will bite the bullet and sign up as a vendor / sponsor, make some gauge interest threads, and then the thread with the most popularity will be started with that. Then hopefully if things go well or better than expected, we can higher a few more guys and then expand and do more J

IMO, the car looks great without carbon fiber accents.
Withthe hood being aluminum, would you actually loose any weight with a carbon fiber hood? Same with the back hatch... |
^^ you would loose just tiny bit...the fenders are where it's good to drop some pounds
|
Its a part where most would want for looks but would also get the benefit of weight reduction.

white colour Z's have this advantage of looking this great.........the head lights have to be done mind you.

i like the ideas. i would rather have the actual carbon fiber parts though insted of overlays. i know some people just like the look of C/F but i would want it for weight reduction also.
|
I have to second the actual CF parts. Overlays don't appeal to me as much...I'm in it more for the functionality of weight reduction in addition to the look. An overlay, it seems, would damage my original part and just add weight.
A number of production cars these days come with CF panels, roofs, etc. Why do you say a roof overlay is much safer than a full CF roof? I just don't know much about the nuances, so anything you can add would be helpful. So, parts i'd be interested in are: Full CF: Hood and roof (hood painted preferably) Fenders (ideally painted) side mirror housings Overlay: front fang area fascia around exhausts Definitely up for seeing more and coming by your shop to check things out. As you've noted, I'm in the area! |
roof CF cap would have to be glued onto the roof...there's no weight drop...lol
unless he makes a part to totally replace the metal piece....thats gonna cost a bit |
I'd like my whole car draped in carbon fiber please !!!!
:excited: Ok, not really... but I am interested in anything you can make that will result in real weight savings and downforce |
^^ u'd need CF fenders for a good amount of pounds shed.
hood and hatch will over a bit of weight savings..... if the roof is a replacement, go for it. if it's a cap...forget it, thats only for looks |
The overlay today we estimated the price at the dealer and all would cost $499.99 each. Or we can also add in vortex generators on the rear molded into the roof cap so it serves a purpose other than looks.
Real cf roofs would be around $799.99 because they would need several more layers of carbon fiber and fiberglass, and they would need all the detailed structural parts that would be needed to be bolted and adhered to the quarter panel tops. We would also make them stronger than the OEM roof. If installed slightly wrong that can make the car terribly unsafe. Say if you were to get into a side collision instead of having the roof which would help keep the car from crushing, the carbon fiber would snap instantly unless its made stronger than the OEM roof. So if we made real ones, they would be safe, but then Id be worried about imitators and customers always flocking to the cheaper products. Fenders would run about $800 a set, a hood around $700. Our products wouldn’t be 1 layer of carbon fiber and 4 layers of fiberglass, we would actually make the parts of at least 75% carbon fiber and have the option to go 100% carbon fiber unlike other dealers. |
^^ thats pretty good. CF is top notch stuff when done right...
the fender price is really good !! no worries on the imitators....you know i'm talking about...lol |
I would be interested in fenders also....
|
Id like to have the B pilers and the mirrors (just the Black trim) in CF and maybe just a something CF to add the spoiler (without having taking it off) to bring the front and the rear together

Where is your shop? I am local and want to stop by to take a look at some of your other work to vouch and add myself to the tentative order list.
|
Make some CF door handles. I'd bet you'd sell a lot of those.
