Shops want a lot more than that to do the same work and I would say not the same quality.

Something like this, but I would like an 8" tablet. OR! I could possibly remove the door and drill a mount in the cubby and have the tablet kind of swivel outside of the cubby.

Wow that's a neat idea! I had thoughts about having someone help me rig a touch display to my dash so it can be plugged to a small computer (i.e., Raspberry Pi). Audio would be USB -> MiniDSP -> Amps. No time at the moment for this project.

A samsung galaxy tab 7" plus fits perfectly with a nav oem dash.
Just keep in mind the bottom head unit is bigger than the bottom head unit that is in the touring navigation model. So you will have to do a small amount of cutting. Nothing crazy.

Here's mine below. Very similar to dreamers. Except he cut the bottom head units dash slot to slide the aftermarket radio down a bit. That way the top nav oem dash would fit snug.
What I did was cut the inside of the oem dash at the bottom(the lip) so it would slide over the bottom head unit.(it will cover the cd player, but who uses that? ) Mine required much less work :p

I plan on buying another tablet and fitting it at the bottom part of the nav dash and run obd ii bluetooth to it.

That's awesome. How did you secure the tablet behind the bezel?

nepali 05-11-2012 08:57 AM

I wish the OEM nav bezel was cheaper! Man, $317 is just a lot of $$$, but, dang it looks perfect!

twinturbonet 05-11-2012 09:08 AM

yea, that is pricey!

originally it was sticky velcro tape. But it gets to hot in florida and it was sliding.. Now I just used glue. Its never going to move so its fine for me to glue it :p

I agree. To be honest all you use from that nav oem dash is the little center piece. I would suspect it would cost not even $100 for it, if it was sold separate. The rest of it you just can keep in a garage or closet in case you somehow destroyed the original.

You know, I like the look with the OEM navi cluster, but I don't like the fact that it's far away from the driver. I'm sure it's better for glare though.

Yeah, I first saw that and was like...:ugh2:
But after talking to a few shops about pricing and custom work it would have been more and might not have been 'perfect.' Also, the OEM display from Nissan is $990.....:icon14:
