The threads in the shift knob are tapered, so there is a LOT of resistance for the first 10+ full turns. You could use vice grips, then do the first 3 counterclockwise turns, then start filming like you have never touched it. It would still be really hard to do by hand and you would easily still be flexing the stock linkage.

It would look like the real deal, but no way to prove it, one way or the other.

this is very possible. many guys on the 350 site did it with bare hands, most that accomplished this either let their car sit in the heat for a long time or left their car in the heat on purpose to loosen the loc-tite.

stock shift knob is perfect. wouldnt you see marks from vice grips? either way, i dont really think its a big deal, more of a funny thread:ughdance:

I personally don't have an opinion on it. Someone else called BS. I was just saying you can't prove it one way or the other.

On second thought, if your hands are really that strong, your knob probably has as many scuff marks as the one I posted in the other active shifter thread....

I'm gonna have to make sure I'm recording when I coax my friend into attempting this. He's a pretty big guy, we'll see how he does.

We're all just messin with you racerx. If you did it, then damn... good on you. I just know it's hard as hell, even with tools. Not saying it's imposiible or that I don't believe you, I'd just personally like to see it.
