Could you try to grab a straight down shot above the vent, to see what is just below the vent and where it sits compared to the radiator/engine?

Kingbaby 04-08-2014 02:35 PM

Keep an eye on it separating and the yellowing

drops right in front of the radiator cap. You can see it through the grill. I am painting this hood to match the car color. That will cut down on yellowing and splitting.

If I paypal you enough for a six pack of beer, will you tape little pieces of yarn all around the vent and go drive around to observe airflow?

1slow370 04-08-2014 07:51 PM

When i get mine I will.

Dude that was hilarious when you put the camera out the window. I'm trying to picture the conversation with a cop explaining why you are driving with a camera in your hand stuck out the window. "well ocifer there's this guy on a forum that wanted me to tape yarn to my hood and video tape it. He said he would give me beer if I did it."

cycy89 04-12-2014 11:22 PM

Vents definitely work. I had a plastic bag melted on my y pipe and smoke came out of the vent lol

nice vids did the best you could without a go pro.

Chuck33079 04-14-2014 07:05 AM

You can definitely tell that air is getting pulled out of the vent. Very nice. Thanks for the vids.

roplusbee 04-17-2014 09:04 AM

Awesome. This hood is on my wish list anyway, lol!

Bumping this bad boy because of this! The sad part of this is the hood has been at my brother's house for two weeks and I have not seen it in person yet

Your still sitting on that thing? Just send it to Houston, we'll just throw it on Chuck's ride and give you a decent write-up in return:tup:

Nice, which hood is that? Don't think I've seen it before.

cooltoy 01-16-2015 09:43 AM

Me neither. Very different.

Hotrodz 01-16-2015 10:50 AM

Awesome, so sexy!

They are Fugimura hoods!

theDreamer 01-16-2015 10:52 AM

Did not realize there was an opening that far back of the hood, curious to see if there is any heat that will get extracted that far back.

Hotrodz 01-16-2015 10:55 AM

Me too...I remember you commenting on that in the FI thread.

Yeah, it comes down to high vs low pressure areas when trying to get heat out.
I don't think anyone has done enough extensive running with the Z to prove that a vent that far back would be bad, we all just summarize that the closes to the front/center area is most ideal for extracting heat.

Ah, yes. Looks a touch different at those angles.

JWillis72 01-16-2015 11:37 AM

I would bet that the front vents help pull heat but not so sure about the back ones. It's a good looking hood!

hjo1078 01-16-2015 12:10 PM

Im adding three layers of clear coat to it before i clearbra. The clearcoat it came with is super thin. But fitment was very good. And yeah i didnt know it was vented on the back end.

I know engineer, but it may be that it helps in drawing the hot air through the side vents and making them more effective.
