Z's with Sunline, Aero Jacket, Shine Auto rear spats

Hey guys,

Did some searching and found some threads about the rear spats, however wanted to confirm how many people have a "bracket" on their Rear Spats

I had found Kevr6s post
http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...questions.html

And he has the Sunline Spats, which are the original I understand. Seems Sunline is nice enough to provide all screws and brackets if needed. I got Shine Auto in Carbon Fiber (I actually thought these guys were the original lol) and all you get is the part...thats it.

So it "appears" Sunline gives you brackets, the rest dont, so for everyone else who have Shine or Aero Jacket versions...did you make a bracket or only installed with 2 screws and 3M tape? Just trying to determine if I need to do some makeshift bracket or not.

Thanks Z fellows

If u don't know what I'm talking about, looks at Boost Lees

Do you know what the Sunline brackets look like? or where they're used?

NVM just looked at your link. I'm sure you could make your own if you think it really needs it.

How do you like the fit and quality of the Shine Spats?

Yup, its actually in Kev's thread, but see below:

So doesn't look like much, just additional support.

I can grab some stuff from Home Depot and make something similar...my Shine Auto Piece did have a hole pre drilled for a bracket/anchor

I just don't want this thing to blow off lol :rofl2:

Oh, if the hole is pre drilled, then you may as well get some material to make one. Looks like it would be easy to make from the picture.

Post up some pics of yours when you get them installed!

Ha, I beat you to your edit...but I'll leave it for the lazy guys

I test fit it so far, the Shine Auto Piece fits perfectly and the finish was great..one minor imperfection but not really noticable

sweet no?

...i'm thinking at speed without the bracket it would pull on the tape too much

It secures it allot better.

js1 03-01-2012 05:42 PM

Do you need brackets for the shine auto rear spats? Or can you just use the 3m tape?

SPOHN 03-01-2012 05:44 PM

I wish they made a hole rear lip that goes all the way across the rear. Here's what I had on my 350

370Z JT 03-01-2012 11:33 PM

I made my own brackets too with flexible metal strips I had laying around.

TheGreatOne 03-02-2012 07:59 AM

Ok, so seems like everyone made brackets...thanks people...I guess I'll be making them too....don't need my spats flying off lol

Yeah, you don't want your spats turning into splats. :rofl2:

cheshirecat 03-02-2012 09:01 AM

I've had mine on for about 20k miles, mostly highway. Just used double-sided tape along with the screws in the rear. Haven't had any problems.

The sorta "wrap" around the bumper well enough to not go anywhere... but if I had the brackets I would definitely use them.

Cool, I figured quite a few must have done it your way too...if I hadn't seen Kev's post about Sunline, I wouldn't have known people used brackets lol

Does anyone know if the carbon fiber on the Shine Auto pieces matches the carbon fiber pattern on the EVO-R carbon pattern. Wanna make sure the patterns match because I ordered the EVO-R rear diffuser.

Where is everyone ordering their Shine Auto spats from??

No brackets on mine. Just 2 screws in the wheel well area, and double sided tape on the rear bumper

well I know you've had yours on for awhile so it must be safe without the bracket

bjblackout 03-03-2012 09:07 AM

Anyone know if the EVO-R carbon matches the Shine Auto carbon. In the front the fang cover will be right next to the Shine piece. Hope they match????

what color is the FRP unpainted? i think i've seen a picture of a flat black set and another of a white set - both looked unpainted. not sure which brand sells the black FRP ones, but i'd like to find a set.

I got mine in CF so not sure, I "think" Shine's FRP version is in flat black but don't quote me on that lol. Scott at Vivid could tell you

So, TheGreatOne...did you make a couple of brackets? Youve got me in suspense now because this is one of my next pieces! :)

I ended up getting brackets Happy :)

I was getting my spacers put in, asked the guys if they wanted to try and put the spats on since it was up on the lift or I'd do it...

The fit was 95%, so he put a rivet where it gets skinny and then was like "I put a bracket too just incase, will be better at speed"

So bracket for me :)

happytheman 03-17-2012 02:55 AM

Good to hear! They look great by the way! Mind posting up pics of the brackets? :)

T-Rex57 01-19-2014 12:52 AM

Hey guys, hate to bump this old thread but I really some help.

I've got the Aerojacket spats. They are good finish, but don't seem to fit. I don't have brackets. For the last three weeks I've tried affixing them with 3M tape (4000 series) and the 2 supplied screws, Sikaflex adhesive (227, 252), 3M VHB tape, various industrial tapes, but the spats will peel away from the body after 24hrs.

I'm not very mechanically minded so making the bracket isn't an option for me, can I buy them from somewhere? Would they help solve my issue?

Huckleberry 01-19-2014 01:58 AM

Go to Home Depot, or whatever you guys have over there, look at brackets. Put in a vice and bend by hand.

I'll give this a shot. Does anyone have any photos of the Sunline ones I can use as a reference?

mag_black 01-19-2014 11:47 AM

i think they have something similiar to that in the door section?

ParkStr8 02-09-2014 09:23 AM

Went to the Sunline link - and the spats are over $1k??? Back to Z1, thank you...

equalme 02-09-2014 09:51 AM

Are y'all removing the factory splash guard? I test fitted the shine spats and they fitted right over them.
